People should be mature enough not to use them in the first place. If you've got one you are seeing used often, you should probably report it or at least provide what prompted you to make this suggestion (I'm sure there's no problem with using them in context). Many other forums don't censor "*bleep*" and I know one of the reasons (or I think) that the censor exists here is a) to hinder spambots (other words can be censored like tinyurl) and b) so advertising companies don't see "*bleep*" all over the forums and therefore neoseeker gains a bad reputation (this may be wrong but I remember reading this). I rarely see racial slurs used around the forums and I have been here for 5 years. I think the censor is fine as it is regarding what words should be censored. The N-word is blocked (*bleep*) and I can't really see many others.

Just out of curiosity, which words do you have issue with?

The title doesn't really say it all to be honest. Major racial slur like what? *bleep*, *bleep*, are both blocked and there the main racial slurs that are used. (N-words actually), where have you seen these slurs, there are extremely few forums on Neoseeker where racist terms are in everyday usage, and those that are usually sent out in a flame war and dealt with quite swiftly and effectively by moderators.

Or do you mean ones like 'Paki', 'Yid', 'Spic' etc...? Whether a word is offensive or not actually depends on the person. I want to avoid the cliched argument about rap music and black rap artists using the n-word but there it is. If the black community as a whole found such a word racist then why not pull a boycott of the genre. Certain words are actually being reclaimed, 'Yid' by the Jewish community and notably Tottenham Hotspurs fans that wear it as a badge of honour and others tend to take it on the chin.

I wonder what the Society of Black Lawyers has to say about this TBH.

Redemption would never remove it completely although I do think it should be optional.

Not much else to add other than the major ones appear to already be censored and any other slurs are so rare that they can be dealt with on an individual basis by the appropriate moderators.

On another note, that is the most creative spelling of 'suggestion' I've ever seen.

I think there is a risk that this topic risks becoming about racist terms to racism in general. I've honestly not came across myself much racism on the site, alot of it is either taken on the chin or dealt with if it offends the target.

There is however, a misconception that only white people a racist. Non-whites can be just as bad but things like a black, Asian, Hispanic or whatever racially abusing a white guy wouldn't be dealt with as harshly by either the authorities or the media if it wasn't the other way around.

I'm genuinely agog at how he managed to misspell it when it was literally right in front of him. I mean, it's the name of the forum ffs.
