	Log in to remove this sponsored message I tried to apply markup to my status, but it wouldn't work. It only worked when I had to find out that I had to use HTML. I'm not a big fan of HTML coding, and would prefer the markup tags. Is anyone else feeling the same and would want standard markup in their status, rather than HTML? 	I didn't even think HTML worked on status messages? What's the point in using HTML for it anyway?

	The ability to alter the style at all should be removed, there is no reason for these to be edited. -------------------

	If I understand correctly, you're not meant to be using markup in status updates at all. The fact that you could put HTML in them was a bug, not a feature. This makes sense to me. After all, status messages are for communicating short, snappy messages — I don't see any need for formatting. See Red's posted on the HTML bug: quote Redemption Unfortunately for everyone, ar_cat just fixed the bug that allows HTML in status updates . If we ever decide to enable limited markup in the status updates we'll keep in mind to have it exclude certain markup from the limit.

	The reason why markup is not supported in status updates is for interoperability with other sites. Part of the purpose (and long term goal) of statuses is to let you synchronize them with other sources, such as your MSN status, Tweets, Facebook status, etc. We don't want messages which rely on the status markup to convey meaning, which would be lost in translation to other services. ------------------- The further back you can look, the farther ahead you can see. <paraphrased> - Winston Churchill
