[Suggestion] Hide last name but show first name

I just made up some name for my profile, but would seriously put my name there if I could avoid putting my last name. Support.

This suggestion was posted a short while back, but I can't find it now. It had a fair bit of support there as well — it's a suggestion that just makes sense.

Won't be a priority? We're talking about something that will take minutes, if not seconds to change. Being a "priority" or not doesn't exactly enter the situation.

It doesn't get put on the list of priorities any more than flicking the lightswitch off as you leave a room does. Or opening the door as you enter one. You just do it. It's not something you have to think about, or "put at the bottom" of your to-do list.

Oh gee, it's far more important for me to go to bed tonight than to turn the light off. I think I'll just go to sleep with it on, because it's such a small, unimportant thing to do, no matter how quickly I could it.

I also think I'll not close the fridge door after I get food out of it, because closing the fridge door isn't very important, and is therefore placed at the bottom of my list of priorities.

You can't really compare implementing a feature to make the last name optional akin to closing the fridge door... the two are completely different. Common sense would dictate to close a fridge door so the food doesn't go off, common sense doesn't dictate whether or not the last name should or should not be optional. Therefore closing a fridge door would be considered high priority unless you have a thing for smearing smushy cucumber in your whereabouts, then by all means, leave it open. The likes of switching off a light before going to bed and opening a door before you walk through it are completely optional and down to personal preference since there are other ways around the problem. Nagare gave Kirby King an alternate way of providing an empty field for his last name, much like I may want to kamehameha a door rather than open it.



Nevertheless, a totally low priority implementation but one that would be useful when/should it be implemented. Support.
