Regarding the NeoCRS icon idea: I strongly oppose it. It simply makes no sense for CRS identification to take the form of an icon rather than a tag. The last thing that's needed is more inconsistency. CRS is quite an important position these days, and as I've already said, it's more relevant to main site and forums than the Wikis are. I see many people asking when their cheats will be approved, who they can contact regarding contribution issues, and so-on, and there are literally no ways to identify NeoCRS members. Wiki Staff are already listed on their respective Wikis, among other pages, where their identification is needed.

Identification should trump advertising in tag priority, in my opinion. Also, it's a matter of one line versus up to six (and many more if you include contributor tags).

I see the value in Wiki tags for advertisement, despite their largely unnecessary cluttering. If there was a viable alternative I'd prefer that but there probably isn't.

However, giving NeoCRS an icon I'd personally say I'm quite against too; their roles are deeply ingrained in the growth of Neoseeker and I think they're as deserving as a tag as anyone...but I don't think they should have a tag either. An icon is a bit silly and easily overlookable.

In all honesty, I don't see why people can't just stick with the (neo CRS) or whatever it is they do.

Vertical space is limited, particularly on laptops and widescreens (which are becoming increasingly common). Your wiki staff tags take up more room than an avatar would.

An icon would be great if it made any sense whatsoever. Icons below avatars are used as links to various parts of a persons profile — not to indicate site positions; that's what tags are supposed to be for. Let's keep it that way and not muddle things up.

People seldom visit random profiles they encounter, so I doubt this would solve the problem much. Furthermore, a single line would be fine if that area weren't already so cluttered. The issue is all of the links, colours, and white space, and the general messiness that this tag-link-cocktail induces. If I'd just drifted onto this site from a search engine and saw what Chad illustrated, I'd think "Gee, this site really doesn't know how to keep things tidy." It really is an overload.

A possibly viable idea is to remove the links (not the tags) from that area and to either (i) put them in a fancy tooltip, or, (ii) migrate them over to the site positions section of the profile, where space is abundant.

Problem is, we already have plenty of icons as well, and they're used for a different, established purpose.

I, personally, think this is much more distinctive, efficient, and user-friendly:

I don't know if listing CRS permissions in the thread view, either as a tooltip or a slidedown list, is such a good idea given how many some of us have.

I mean, I have 32 separate permission areas. That's way too much to be listing in thread view.

Rather, I'd rather it be a clickable new window link to here instead, so we still get an easily referenced list of permissions without cluttering the thread view itself.

I still think having the wiki links visible to begin with would be nice. Some wikis I've only noticed because I saw them under a user's name. I'm not exactly inclined to go randomly clicking every wiki staff tag I see just to see if there's a new wiki link I might be interested in. But if there are other more viable means of highlighting interest then sure.
