forums [Request] General Doctor Who Forum - Page 4

I'm open to feedback on what Dragoon and others want it to look like. During the weeks it's airing, Doctor Who is among the most discussed shows in TV Shows' current state. In season six alone (which kicked off its first batch of episodes a little over a year ago) it netted 90+ pages of discussion. However, in TV's history popular shows like Lost, Prison Break, Heroes and such all had multiple threads per season in their heydays. Right now, there's still more posts in the TV shows history of Doctor Who threads than there is in the series 1 volume 1 forum where discussion has been centralized.

There's obviously enough activity and member investment for a wiki to be planned, and that huge list of forums in the OP located in the Television category shouldn't all exist considering how many of them are empty.

TV Shows doesn't have a series 7 thread, and if you guys make separate topics for the 50th anniversary/discussing the history of the show there's room for that and I'll give them all a separate tag.

thats because rather than making a general forum, they found that the TV show existed...one for each volume and series, im guessing. so picking one at random, and centralising all discussion there seemed practical. the forum already existed, but it wasnt meant to be for a general DW forum.

The test forum wasnt any good, even after episodes it only got about 3 posts.

Yup. But at the same time it was tucked away in a corner of a forum not many people visited. I'm not trying to be overly optimistic about this, but considering how people claim to watch the show, and the forum has a proper name (which can show up on search results), it might be enough to get it off it's feet. The DW community are generally quire passionate and the show and drool over any speculation - I know I certainly do. The test forum was simply moved over to this one as part of a new Community initiative introduced, in which solid communities can be formed. So a forum was created within that community space to allow people to discuss the content.

Unfortunately to get a forum up and running you need people to actually put the work into starting it up, and have people posting frequently... once that is established forums tend to become self sufficient.

It's still worth a try, in my opinion.

I know a few people looking for a Doctor Who forum that they can post in, but won't post in the current one we're "using" because it looks unprofessional in their opinions.
