[Suggestion] Ability to "like" a post

I think it'd be pretty sweet if you could like a post, the same way you can like a comment/status update on Facebook or a video on Youtube. There's been a few times already where I've been looking through threads and, being so used to Facebook, just wanted to be able to press like on somebody's post.

Definitely been suggested before, but forum search isn't working for me right now. Suffice to say I still oppose such an implementation. It serves no practical purpose, is open to obvious abuse to no means or ends and is a big waste of time compared to constructive implementations that could be made in place.

If I want to go "like" something, I'll go use a crud site like Facebook. On Neoseeker, the word limit allows for a reply of a much more constructive nature.

I like this idea (lolpun). Just like you, there have been many times where I have possessed a desire to like someone's post.

This could be a really nice community feature.

Im not a great fan of this idea as i think it could easily be abused also like the above i don't feel it would fit in with the forum as well as it does on social networks.

Instead of liking, why not post a reply??? Liking would just seem to dilute discussion. The reason it's on Facebook is because fo the "performance" aspect that social networks breed. Liking something is just a way of artifically tying yourself to something someone's said. If you really want to tie yourself to something, respond to the post.

If you think you're response is going to sound dumb or if you don't have the time to respond properly, I don't see why we should add a "like" feature for you to hide behind or use as a quick fix.

Sometimes you just want to say "I completely agree with everything you've said." That's hardly worth of a post tbh.

If you like someone's post because it is funny, or epic, or something like that, then just quote it in the Quotes from Neoseeker Members thread (linked above). Thanks to the new notifications system, members will know right away that someone likes what they said.

As for agreeing with what another member said, you can just quote them in the thread and say that you agree. Again, the notification system helps out with letting them know.

I see no need to have a "liking" system.

Actually, Zuidy, it's been introduced to the Gallery and Blogs as an actual like button, next to the +my favs button.
