Now the questions are:
Will it cost NeoPoints?
Will there be a Certain quota we have to meet to get the name change?
If there is a Quota then what is it?
If it does cost NeoPoints then how much do I have to spend?

If indeed we do have to spend NeoPoints to change our Neoname. Then I really don't see how or why we have to. The best thing to do for now is to set up a quota.

For example:
*First free name change*
A minimum of 400 to 500 NeoPoints or higher.

(Note: The Quota will raise every time you use the free name change.)

Or The quota, once used, can disappear for only a one time use. That would help out some on the Anti-Flood on requests. We need to set them a little high that way Redemption isn't flooded with requests.

Will this replace the other $10 fee for the name change?

Absolutely not. The $10 fee idea will sill stay up for those who do not feel like contributing or just don't have the resources for it.

So once we meet the quota what do we do?

Most likely we would have to send a PM to Redemption like this.
Subject of PM would be "Free Name change|Quota met" And The body of it would look like this.

Desired name:

(Note: This is the idea so far. It is unknown that if he will set up some weird code to make sure that your not just doing this for fun.)

Now this is really just a rough idea on how it will be. Redemption may change it up when it actually comes out.(That's IF it comes out.)

It would be awfully nice if people did get something in return for Neopoints. Improved graphic limitations, additional PM space, access to a special forum or something. People respond to incentives.

It would yes. But I was referring to this.

Yup, and that would be one of the incentives I'd like to see. ;D Hopefully it will be something along the lines of what the others have shown or an entirely new system, but if he's making something different for that it sounds like an automated system, which would like be based on the "quotas" you mentioned, but this is all speculation on my part. =P

It's really down to Red how he wants to plan it or have things work, mind. I doubt it would actually lower aggregate neopoints from your profile or anything like that, since the current system does not actually kill your wiki edit count or gallery image size.

Taz, I'm not too sure what the point of this thread is exactly. You're suggesting a system that Red's already mentioned he would like to implement and making guesses at how it will work?

It's really doubtful that neopoints would be lost using such a feature so the quota concept is more realistic.

I was hopeing that this would speed up the proses a little faster. Giving out helpful ideas that may help out Redemption's overall decision.

From what I already understand, Redemption would make this a limited option available once after you have reached a significant number of neopoints, let's say 500 or 1000. Once you have reached that, send him a PM (after he unveils an option for this) saying "Free Name Change | NeoPoints" and he'll take care of it.

Name changes aren't supposed to be the norm which is why such restrictions are currently placed on them.

How could it be defeating the purpose? The purpose of paying is to have your name changed without hassle of contributing stuff to NeoSeeker. The purpose of using neopoints is to have your name changed by contributing to NeoSeeker's contents.

Either way it's a win-win for NeoSeeker.

In fact... I don't understand why a use for neopoints hasn't already been implemented. The site would get more contributions if there was a real incentive rather than just having a bigger number under your name.

To be honest, if Neopoints can be spent on a name change, I really can't see anything less than 2,000 points for a change. It should be a step in between reachable and unreachable.

ahhh, i dont know. im an active member of the computer forums and i help out people there, but do i get any neopoints for that? no. nor do i expect any mind you, but that is my way of contributing to the site. i dont want to have to go submitting game cheats and box shots just to get some points to have such rewards

Then don't contribute that way.

If you prefer paying for a name change, nothing's stopping you. This is just an alternative for those not so affluent members who'd like a name change.
