forums [Suggestion] Merge the Pokés - Page 2

I support that they get merged, and the merge becomes "Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver".

Most of the topics are the same, and I don't see much harm in doing so.

Maybe make it possible to visit each individual forum, and the merged one?

Look at the current merged platform forums. They all maintain individual profiles and each just links to the same forum. You can have it display the cookie bar (hierarchy) at the top depending on which platform you use (or have favorited) and the same could be done here (display Soul Silver v Heart Gold or a combo based name)

When they are first created...there is no split in the community so it isn't a problem anyways if done right away.

Though I kinda agree they aren't TERRIBLY different, how many other sites do we see merging the two versions? I just think it would look unsophisticated and unprofessional. With the third version that follows, I think it would be awkward to have the forum listings be like this:

Pokemon Gold and Silver
Pokemon Crystal

Besides the traffic of BOTH forums merging into one it would be like another Loungin', seeing the traffic Diamond and Pearl got.

So, you mean different listings, different profiles, same forum? Yeah, that could work.

But, each forum attracts different people. People who just have Pearl would search Pearl, and come to the merged forum. The traffic of both games would still go into one. There's also the problem of duplicate threads. Each forum still gets tons of duplicate threads, even when three of the same topic is already there. Imagine if the duplicate thread makers from both forums came into one.

That's just my criticism. Not to say a nice strong mod with an equally strong assistant couldn't handle it.

Pokémon in different regions...not really, just version exclusives which can be traded back and forth. Not something to stop the merging of these types of forums when everything is so similar.

Different statues/content...not much different and not anything that couldn't be discussed in a combined forum.

With all due respect, you can't argue a point and not give evidence. I could say the sky is black, but I would have to explain why for others to consider what I say truthful and/or valid.

There is a lot of different content in Diamond, Pearl and Platinum and I don't see why that won't be true for Heart Gold and Soul Silver.

Or you could think about it and see the evidence for yourself. All of my points are backed up as it is. No one brought up the third game per generation being included in the forum. That is the only one with any true differences in content that could be factored in.

Just wanted to mention this, but one of the reasons why Neoseeker's social forums are being pushed by some supers is because of it's draining effect is has on Loungin'. As folks who visit know, it's very easy for comments you say to get lost in the multitude unless it's something really, really epic -- usually epically stupid, but epic none-the-less. =P

One of the aims of the social forums was to reduce the amount of people flying around inside each of those forums individually and give more space on the site for smaller communities to grow. I'm concerned that these pokemon forums will go down the 'crowding out' path common with larger forums. Let's not forget, Diamond maxed itself out with it's subforums at over 4000 PPD, and if that trend continues with these forums combined we could be looking at a seriously crowded forum.

Just a thought.
