This is a two-pronged suggestion. They are different things, but they are both profile-related, so I'm lumping them into one thread.

1. Whenever a field is left blank, completely remove it from the profile. This includes all fields. Of course the user would still have the option to place "private" instead of removing it, but the option to remove it should be available as well. There's no need to have the fields in the profile if no information is being provided through them. It's just wasted space.

2. Create an official method to add custom fields to the profile. mettaur_15 uses this ability extensively, and his profile goes to show the great detail that can be added to profiles using this. A simple "Custom Profile Fields" page could be created and linked to from "edit profile" and functionality should be pretty basic. Yes, I obviously know this can already be done, but like all things, you shouldn't have to use unofficial workarounds to accomplish things.

I don't think that we should have too much control over our profiles; they should all look relatively similar. Our NeoHome is the place to be unique and different than everyone else. But sometimes people are going to want to display different information in their profiles than everyone else, and they should be able to easily do that.

I've cleaned up the profile slightly by hiding any IM fields that were left empty.

Also, nxchange needs to be removed completely as I think the project has been scrapped.

I'd like to bump this suggestion. I was just making some modifications to my profile and thought, "I wish I could add a custom profile field. I should suggest that," and then I remembered I had suggested it before. Thoughts on custom profile fields?

I think he refers to parts of some people's profiles where they make up their own fields to discuss themselves.
In other words, you know how there is 2 biography fields, Bio and Interests? Some people also have other fields. For example, Stitch.

Oh okay. Wow, people actually take the time to read those? I would of thought everyone would be to caught up with all of the activity going on in their hang out spots.

These seem so obvious I really think they should be considered. It would be really handy and a nice feature for members.
