Actually, yes. Access to all threads if needed by just searching for it is a major advantage, but I'm guessing also incredibly difficult to carry out.

Besides, I don't need perks to donate to a site I'll stay around on.

The reason why I joined neo was because it was free to chat around with other members. If neo was making me pay I would much rather subscribe to like IGN and get good stuff for my money.

I don't think this is necessary and would probably only cause a great deal of friction between members that have or don't have this Premium Membership. The site already gives us plenty for FREE. If you feel compelled to give more than by all means help support neoseeker by the methods that are already in place.

Personally, I feel the avatars, banners, allowed pm storage and all the other suggested upgrades are not necessary. And, I'd even say that seeing larger avatars and banners might be considered obnoxious and annoying by some members.

This isn't a question of whether or not the current system "works nice," Puerto Rico. We know it works nice; it's worked nice for over five years, and it will continue to work nice in the future, no doubt.

We're trying to determine if giving members the option of upgrading to a Premium Membership would be worthwhile, and more importantly, how much it would cost and what benefits Premium Members would receive.

I think it's a great idea, and I fully agree with most of the ideas pyroguy has compiled into this post. I think you'd be surprised by the number of people willing to fork over a little cash to access additional, though by no means extremely overwhelming, benefits, such as access to my.post history or a 75 x 75, 25 kilobyte avatar.

One thing I'd like to stress is that the fee for a Premium Membership should only have to be paid once; if members are forced to renew it every six months or once a year, support will quickly dwindle as members are turned away by the revolting thought of having to keep paying and paying as long as they remain on the site and wish to keep the features. One fee only, and a small fee at that, and you're a Premium Member for the rest of your Neoseeker life.

Personally I have no idea how members manage to have their inboxes almost overflowing. I don't think a higher limit is really neccesary.

I thought the point of these restrictions were 1) to keep server strain down and 2) to ease viewing by those 56k dial-up surfers. Yes, I see the word slightly, but even a slight increase on many accounts could be a massive increase. Besides, I personally don't have a problem with the system as it is now.

Basically I don't see the need for a Premium Membership system. There's nothing in your suggested list that would convince me to fork over any money.
