[Suggestion] Aviation forum

pretty self explanatory. plenty of aviation nuts out there, myself included. can go in special interest, and i can refer several people to the forum as i spend a lot of time around aviators and enthusiasts alike. i can think of at least 20 people who would jump at the idea or join neoseeker for the sake of that forum.

i think that this forum could create several interesting discussions. talk on the a380, the new hypersonic airliner (with no windows!), how an aircraft and its components work, aircraft incidents and accidents (hopefully not), new technology, military related, helicopters/gliders/ultralights/amphibians...the list just goes on

can i get some constructive criticism please?

re: [Suggestion] Aviation forum

But how much discussion will you be able to drum up?

You mentioned that there are people you know who would join neo for an aviation forum; would they stick around and post in other forums? Why don't they do that now? Is there anyone on the site already who has an interest in aviation and would post in such a forum?

i dont see why not. many people who enjoy aviation are also fascinated by engines - theres the motor cars forum covered. everyone will, at one point of another, post in loungin or IE for some fun talk, or to ask something that isnt in another forum. and future pilot hopefuls will probably want to go to the health and fitness forum to see what they could do to improve their health for a better medical result to get their licenses. why dont they do that now you ask? well that would be because they dont know about neoseeker. ive convinced users such as Komet (latest one), Sheperd, Mitchillio and Brainy to join. look at neoseeker - it is the site where theres a forum for nearly everything, so it wouldnt take too much convincing to get others to join. and to answer your final question, yes there is. Komet, the newly joined user, is interested in aviation, and planning to build a small 2 seater aircraft.

re: [Suggestion] Aviation forum

Well its good 2 have a central place 2 discuss general aviation. People would have queries on all aspects of aviation and someone might drop in knowing the answer to a question. i like the idea

re: [Suggestion] Aviation forum

and i have quite an extensive knowledge of aircraft and their components, so id be an excellent contributor to the forum. there are more people with at least a spark of interest in aviation than you all think. believe me, if this forum does get added, i predict it having higher average PPD than several other forums (all games forums excluded).

BTW, who changed my title from [request] to [suggestion]?

re: [Suggestion] Aviation forum

I think this is a good idea. Whilst I'm not an aviation nut who spends his life sitting at airports writing what plane came in when, I have a nice broad knowledge of the aviation industry and aircraft and I wouldn't mind seeing this at all.

re: [Suggestion] Aviation forum

ok, i dont mean to sound impatient and all, but can i get an estimate as to when this idea would get accepted or rejected? the thread about making suggestions just said something vague about it. im asking because i think ive given it enough time for someone to be able to work out some kind of estimate.

re: [Suggestion] Aviation forum

Usually forums are already created if there's evidence that the forum would have a good chance of being used frequently. That is, you'll strongly improve your case if you cite instances of aviation discussion around Neoseeker to show examples of people discussing it.

I think that there are many topics that could be discussed but I don't know that many people would be interested in discussing them, unfortunately. =\

re: [Suggestion] Aviation forum

ok, well in your opinion, suppose there is a certain number of people posting on the forum daily...how many people would you need?

also, i have already provided some instances of aviation discussion already in my first post...talk on the a380, the new hypersonic airliner (with no windows!), how an aircraft and its components work, aircraft incidents and accidents (hopefully not), new technology, military related, helicopters/gliders/ultralights/amphibians. also, to add to that, people who need to know what could be the cause to a problem on an aircraft, how-to's for aircraft kits, flying tips, suggestions or lists of concept aircraft, and peoples opinions on the future of flying.

theres a nice list of possible aviation discussions. remember that this is a general aviation forum. its not intended to be focused on any one part of flying. anything to do with flying can go in there. hell, i think youd probably be able to put something in about paper plane making as well (someone might want to know why its not working. after all, a paper plane runs on the same physics as normal aircraft)

besides, this forum would have more discussions in it than the deals forum. after all, im sure it would get more than 2 posts a day

re: [Suggestion] Aviation forum

ok its been a while and still no one has told me whether or not this has been rejected or approved. is there some sort of system these things go through, or does admin look through the rfs forum for these threads and does a quick decision on it there and then?

i hate to be so annoying about this, and i do apologize for it, but hey - im devoted to this.

EDIT: BTW, i think its worth noting that theres no reason why this forum shouldnt be implemented if we have the Mac's forum running (last post was from 19th March).

quote RFS Forum Rules, FAQs, and Usage Guidelines
How long does it take to implement a suggestion?

It's a common complaint. People think the administration ignore most ideas and don't even read the threads. This is definitely not true! The administration reads all threads even if they don't reply to every one. There's no set time for an idea to get implemented — it could literally take anything from a few days to a few years. A lot depends on what type of change is suggested. Generally, the bigger the change, the longer it takes to implement. The best advice is to just remain patient. But if a significant amount of time passes, feel free to bump the thread up asking for new opinions/feedback.

RFS Forum Rules, FAQs, and Usage Guidelines

As I recall it took years before the Cooking Forum was created and that one took a lot of work. Three people does not a forum make. If you are really devoted to seeing this happen then you need to work to make it happen. Run a petition, and by that I don't mean a simple list of names from your buddies but rather finding individuals that share the same interest and are willing to demonstrate that interest. Try creating an aviation thread in Loungin and seeing if that sparks people's interest.

I have three friends (one of whom registered) in hope of finding some aviation related discussion but found nothing, so two never registered and one never came back.

re: [Suggestion] Aviation forum

Yup, I'm deeply enthusiastic about aviation and I would love to see a forum dedicated to it. TBH I spend a lot of time on other aviation forums around the web because thats just what I'm interested in, cmon Neo other websites are stealing your traffic, besides, I really think that this would be active and because of the kinda people who would post in there (enthusiasts) the threads in there would be really constructive. I really don't get why neo has some really crap forums with very low or no PPD.

It's just insulting to people like hiigran who come up with ideas like an aviation forum which would be fairly popular among certain groups of people on the site when Neo has a whole section dedicated the bloody N-gage! Yeah that was really worth adding because people really post in there. [/sacasm]

re: [Suggestion] Aviation forum

I'd love for there to be an aviation forum. There's such a broad range of topics that could be discussed there, and I know I for one, would participate in it.
