Aitd2 pc: pushing anchor statue

Hi everyone there.
I'm new to the DB, so please apologize me if I break any rule. I'm italian, too, so please excuse me for my really poor english.
Straight to the problem: I have aitd2 (pc version), and get stuck at the very beginning of the game. I kill the guardian and the Thomps guys, but I'm not able to move the anchor statue to get in the garden. What's the matter?
I also have great troubles in trying to run: what the hell is the way to make that silly Carnby move FAST? I guess my fingers are badly rotten, maybe I should consider quitting writing so much.
Thanks a lot, I trust I can rely on ("your vote"... Radiohead docent) your answers,
Francesco.

re: Aitd2 pc: pushing anchor statue

To move the anchor statue, you have to go into your inventory where all your items and weapons are. Click on the Push/Pull option. Then use that action like you would a gun or a sword when you are next to the statue. Carnby should push it over to the side.

As far as the run button goes on the PC version I am not sure, because it's different than the Playstation version. All I know is that you must hold the run button down when you move Carnby around. Hope this helps!

re: Aitd2 pc: pushing anchor statue

Tnx a lot, SerialZero, and please apologize me if I send a pc request on this ps forum, but the pc one seems quite dead. However, my real problem is that I try to push the statue (selecting the correct command from the menu), but the statue moves of half an inch, and no more!
Is there a particular movement to do, or what else?
Tnx a lot again,
I wait for your answer.

re: Aitd2 pc: pushing anchor statue

I had this problem with a downloaded version of aitd2 so I had to download a different one which didn't have the problem.Later on however I got stuck because Grace refused to go down a ladder on the pirate's boat!

re: Aitd2 pc: pushing anchor statue

I noticed that with the Playstation version, when you push the anchor statue straight across, sometimes Carnby will slip off to the side and the statue will not move. I believe you have to push the statue pretty much straight on to get it to open enough. If you start pushing off to the side, swing Carnby back over in the right direction and keep pushing. You also have to hold the push trigger command down the whole time you're pushing, if that helps.

re: Aitd2 pc: pushing anchor statue

Well, thanks everyone. But it really seems like there is no way to make that silly statue move. I tried in every single direction, and for a long time indeed. I'm thinking that maybe it's a copyprotection bug: the fact is that I downloaded the version from internet (I lost the disks I had, when I played it the first time), and there may be some problems.
Thanks a lot, however. Ciao a tutti.

P.S.: Serial0, I'm sorry, I won't post answers to aitd1 questions anymore. Bye.

re: Aitd2 pc: pushing anchor statue

Ah-HA! I see now. That's probably the problem if you're playing a downloaded game off the internet. Most demos I've played on the Playstation or PC only let you go so far in the game, then you're stuck. You won't be able to play the whole thing this way, I imagine. To tell the truth, I haven't ever been overly fond of computer games for that reason. Too many problems can make things go wrong, like system incompatibility, computer glitches, game failures, etc. That's why I'm a pure console freak. You put the game in, and it plays. So unless the game CD is scratched beyond all recognition or your console has bit the dust, you don't have to worry about the game not doing what you want it to do. My advice would be to forget about computer games and get yourself a Playstation 2, because it's the best system EVER. There, I said it. Viva la Playstation! Incidentally, they have a version for Alone In The Dark 2: One Eyed Jack's Revenge for the Playstation, so that's why I'm bringing all this up. And there's no need to apologize for asking questions! That's how you find stuff out, right?

re: Aitd2 pc: pushing anchor statue (goin' to be PC VS PS!)

Ehehehehehe... the real fanatic shows its nature when he ("she", I seem to guess, my lady) starts being lovely off-topic to magnify the pros of his (her) gaming system!!!
However, I agree. I'd surely turn to ps2, if my purse accorded to me this favor! However (Catullo docet!) it only contains spiders and webs!
Baci,
Francesco.

P.S.: I downloaded the FULL 12Mb version!!!

The Anchor Statue

HA! Why not? This is one of the slower forums on Neoseeker, so I think a little spamming is OK now and again. Especially if I can plug how great the Playstation is in the process.

Oh! And it's nice to hear that you now have the full version of Alone In The Dark 2! If you need any more help, please, feel free to post another thread!

Pushing anchor statue (+ ricotta)

But OF COURSE you are a lady!
I can tell it from the way you reply to our posts...
Well, I can't tell if you're a "dame" or a "pucele" (if anyone here knows ancient french will understand), but surely you'll have great style.
Tnx for your help, I would be glad to be of help too, but I don't know how.
Bacio,
Francesco.

P.S.: I meant that I alreay had downloaded the entire version, and the the problem is not of a demo version...
...however, I turned to Blood Bros. (great leap, isn't it?)

re: Aitd2 pc: pushing anchor statue

I had exactly same problem with pc verwsion. It has something to do with newer machines being too fast for the game or something. It causes the problem with running too. I downloaded a cpu lower program called turbo and ran it before playing the game and lowered my cpu speed. I had to play about with the cpu percentage speed a bit before I got it set to the right value ( 30 on my machine) After that I could run and push statue with no problem
