G4, what a treasure

I saw a trailer for this on G4 TV on cinematech. It looks great. I can't wait to hear more on it.

re: G4, what a treasure

Just played a demo for this game and it's pretty interesting - the use of the right thumbstick to perform actions is clever and the split screen sequences provide real tension. The amount of ways you can interact with the environment is cool and the different sequences in the diner scene alone makes me hopeful for the rest of the game. There are two reviews on Eurogamer already, giving the game 9/10 and 8/10.

http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=60494

"With that in mind we had to follow our hearts and award Fahrenheit the nine it deserves for being probably the most enjoyable, forward-looking and thoughtful piece of videogaming we've played in this or in any year. We never thought we'd say this, but it's a real step forward for the adventure game genre."

Note for Europeans, this game is known as Fahrenheit here, but Indigo Prophecy everywhere else.

EDGE just gave it an 8 which is high in their book and triples my intentions to buy it in 5 days... out on Friday.

re: G4, what a treasure

I'll be heading into town to get this game tomorrow as well, I've been after a solid, plot-strong game for ages.

UK Official Xbox Magazine gave it a 8.9 out of 10.

"...forget your ingrained prejudices and generic gun-and-car games and take a chance on something different. Fahrenheit is unlike anything else you'll ever play on Xbox, and we're pretty confident you'll also consider it one of the best. It's like reading a Dan Brown blockbuster, only with fewer words and more joypad abuse. Quite simply, it's ace."

Also received 90% at Total Games:

http://www.totalgames.net/pma/22124

"As it stands, finishing Fahrenheit should be near the top of any Xbox owner's agenda, because the journey there is one of the most intriguing and satisfying on the console. Everything from the grainy, bleak visuals to the heart-stopping action sequences point towards a mature game that offers far more than just the usual series of cheap thrills and repetitive puzzles. It's by no means perfect but, because the story is so engaging, the usual nagging problems are easily overlooked in favour of the innovation and originality that is so wonderfully abundant in Fahrenheit. Easily a contender for game of the year and, potentially, the last great piece of original gaming left for current-gen Xbox owners to discover."

And while we're Xbox users, there is (only just) more activity in the PS2 forum on this game:

re: G4, what a treasure

Crap.

Sorry, but I was a huge fan of the demo and it looked really cool. Then I got the game last night and just finished it this morning.

Besides being really short, the story half way gets into a Matrix/DarkCity rip off amoung other sources. It no longer becomes about a Murder Mystery but just a bunch of random lame crap with various scenes coming out of left field.

I know it looks cool, but rent it first, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME you will really be dissapointed.

I am a little sad to say it because it is a pretty good game, but you play it because of the story and the story just gets so terrible it's sad to see since it started off so good.

re: G4, what a treasure

I must disagree strongly with Sephiras. Fahrenheit stands out for it's unique gameplay and gripping storyline. It's funny how people are quick to cry Matrix ripoff, when the Matrix itself was a ripoff of many things. No idea is truely original these days and there are some scenes that will remind you of other films. But this does not make the game any less enjoyable. The story may be rushed a little at the end but this was always intended to have a sequel. A sequel I look foward to. This game was given a high score for a reason. It may not make everyone happy, but name me one game that does.

I have to disagree too. I just beat it with one of the endings (the one where you fail) and am doing the other ones right now. Excellent game, but not for everyone.

9.6 / 10

Good, someone who knows what to do. How do I find the book in the library with the old asian man?

3rd floor, white section.

To discover this, you take the book he gave you to the back of the library where you can examine it with a magnifying glass to find the name of the author. You then look his name up in the index up, and in the back of the room near Takeo (the old asian guy) there is another index that tells you what colored section the book title would be in.

You have to place the book he gave you down on the table with the magnifying glass in order to pick up the other book on the 3rd floor, white section.

I figured it all out except the leaving the other book on the table part.

Thanks.

re: G4, what a treasure

I can understand both views. I liked this game a lot more towards the beginning. The part where you have to hide the evidence before the cop comes in was very cool! Halfway through the game, it turned into a "End of Days" ritual kind of story and it lost a little of its edge to me. Then near the end it turned into a "over the top" psychic battle which lost my interst even more. The story was like a hybrid between End of Days, The Matrix, and Golden Child.I did like this game a lot, it was a breath of fresh air, but I did like it a lot more when it was just a murder mystery!

I don't know guys, i mean the murder mystery was awesome wich has become cliche because we KNOW its awesome its been said over and over but did NO ONE else think the battles and the Neo-esque transformation of Lucas was COOL? I did, i thought the fact it jumped from a psychological thriller to a sci-fi action game was just cool, plus those fight scenes like on top of the orphanage werent too shabby and with the left and right analog stick movements to keep up with your opponent you feel like you're right there and after you're about as tired as Lucas!

re: G4, what a treasure

Hi. I'm stuck in this military-sneaking session...The second one, where there are these spotlights and it's night. I just can't sneak even past the first two guards (together) before they spot me.. I've tried something like about 200 times now and I'm getting pissed. Can someone tell me a good tip to get past the guards, please?

re: G4, what a treasure

This game is amazing. Enough said.
Does anybody else love the soundtrack as much as I do?

Oh and whoever is having trouble with the spotlights, yes, its very hard, the hardest part in the game i think. You just have to wait until the guards look at each other,(you can see them on a small screen) then run along the side of the rock, then behind that searchlight directly by it, and follow the yellow line, remember that.

9.7/10
almost as good as Halo.

I loved the game. Its intense grip, breathtaking, sweat-breaking experience hooked me. The game could have been more thought out but nonetheless its something you need to experience once.
