I want to get either Myst III or Schizm for a new game. Can somebody who has played these 2 games please tell me which one is better and why?

I would have to suggest Myst III rather than Schizm. I was able to solve all the puzzles in the Myst Games (Myst, Riven and Myst III), with just a few hints. Some of the Schizm puzzles were so difficult, a full walk through was required. I am playing the PC version of Schizm now and there are some parts of the game where the image quality is not that great. Supposedly the DVD version is better for image quality. Myst III is fantastic for graphics.
Which ever game you decide to purchase, be warned that they will drive you absolutely crazy.

MYST III EXILE is the best Myst series by far. I highly recomend it. Schizm lacks clues which enable an inteligent person to conquer the puzzles. I have only begun Schizm but so far I am frustrated by the lack of viable clues necessary to begin solving puzzles. Also the graphics appear to be better in MYST III and the acting of the characters is great. Schizm actors makes me feel like an elementary school kid. They are lame and fake. Get MYST III EXILE....you won't be dissapointed.....

I agree with Buck, MystIII first- then Schizm if you liked it.

DaDungeon has played 'em both. Both were hair-tearers. But both are equally entertaining -- in different ways.

The Mental Mob used no walkthrough, except once to figure out WHY a certain puzzle solution works (DaDungeon got a little remedial grade school math -- this for a math minor waaaay back in college age --- face reddened considerably upon realization)

In all honesty -- though an unapologetic fan of things Myst/Riven/Exile, The Mental Mob preferred SCHIZM.

Not only for the graphics engine, but for the absolutely non-rigid gameplay paths -- just about all the puzzles in just about any order. Felt sooooo good when each of the zillions of puzzle pieces and clues finally connected! A collection of real A-HAH! moments, along with oodles of OOOOOh, COOOOOL moments.

EXILE, though gorgeously rendered, did not have that. It felt a little too disjointed, mechanical. But, make no mistake, EXILE is a good game, too. Just not as close a match to the DaDungeon's mental wiring.

i would recommend Schizm, I tried Myst and got no where. I still prefer a third person, which it is not, but easier to understand.

My game Schizm keeps locking up at the start when I go to the first place that has light, I have tried everything. Does anyone have any ideas?
