i have the japanese version of memories off complete on PC
this is a pc port of a DC game.
i bought meoriesoffcompletePC in 2002, the game was bundled with memories off 2nd collector's edition.
there seems to be alot of general confusion about the pc verison in the english community, so let me clear things up. "memories off complete" came out for the dreamcast in 2000 and became very popular with older MO fans due to the highly regarded remake of
"memories off pure" which was made specifically for the dreamcast version. at the time memories off complete was considered the best verison of the MO1 series, although from what i remembered the dreamworld chapter taking place in a alternate universe in the NGPC .ver is not available in memories off complete.
The enhanced dreamcast verison was exclusively ported over to the pc in 2003 hong kong with mostly everything intact, except that the aqua menu color has reverted back to the rainbow themed one and the OP song has been removed and the ED song changed back to "dreams" instead of "this will be the last time i see you", the network feature was removed but everything else remains, including the remasted CGs, voices, music and most importantly the memories off pure remake.
many years later memoreies off complete would be bundled together with memories off 2nd and released as a single game "memories off duet" in 2009, i want to clear up that duet was not released in 2003 and this is not to be confused with "memories off rain" pc which is a sequel released as 3 games in 2008
the memories off series are very well loved by many and the series was popular with girls back in the day, i guess you can think of them as the equelevent of the MYST series of games in japan
in happier blissful times of a distant past, before the great tragedy tore them all apart.
"when will the rain stop?"
are you crying tears of memories?
thanks for 8 years of memories, memories....off!
-memories off 6 T-wave
memories off 6 T-wave PC verison, another exclusive pc release in hk only in 2009.
after KID went out of business and left me with nothing but another chinese re-release of Ever17 anthology in 2005 hk (which i didn't like, i know its good, but trust me i played the chinese pc version of ever17 back then at my classmate's place for abit and its nothing like the bittersweetness first-love story MO that i grew up for these past 8 years) the story is too mind boggling and the level of difficulty in figuring out the heroine route is insanely hard.
to be honest i thought 6 was complete garbage, i never thought i'd have to wait for this many years for a new MO series that ends up with the gamer only getting part1 of the story in the main game that starts off so dam goofy like any generic visual novel before trying to drag you on by going around in circles with the story a la sherlock before giving us the big revalation in the end that involves a BIG LIE contrived by the 2nd heroine Chisa out of self guilt due to her causing the disappearance of the main character's mother from his life forever, and why risu kept being such a b!@#h to you for 2/3 of the game even in her route she was nice to you for awhile before reverting back again, and tries too hard to justify and explains for itself that it just became a whole bunch of nonsense in the end without a proper clousure. also the teacher is not cool anymore, and you'd think the eternal shin would have referenced more on tomoya and yue's marriage since this game takes places a whopping 10 years after the ending of MO1 and takes place in the EXACT SAME HighSchool and town of the very first game, but noooo, all he does is go on and on about "good times" and mentions other girls that we don't care about, which is stpid because of all people he chose to cued the Hamasaki legend duo idiots instead. and this game is suppose to be a tribute to the 1st. although the audio is catchy and is mostly faithful to the original 1st game, memories off 6 is more cheerful than it is saddening, everyone look like they're smiling when they finally do cry (for nothing). i was hoping for Chisa to die in the end, but nooooo, the aspect of [memories] and [beloved you of my memories] is not there, as a matter of fact, the sequel part II "memories off 6 Next relation" of the story which i'm not playing, picks up with everyone going on a holiday picnic. also its just terrible to call this game "T-Wave" when you're trying to revive a franchise because it'll only remind everyone of MO3 and the mess it became after. sure its nice to know that MO3's heroine's dream came true in the end and she got her own radio show that we never hear the end of, but i don't think MO6 should have referenced her at all since it also wants to start fresh.
even though a few ppl and even the artist of memories off 1 got back together to make mo6 after 5pb took over you can absolutely not feel the powerful distinctive KID flavor narrative at all.
Memories Off 7: Yubikiri no Kioku PC verison, another exclusive pc release in HK just 1 month ago
as you can see at the top, there's a usb drive bundled with the game, that's the much fabled copy protection technology developed sepcifically for this game and is required for the game to work.
[warning do not remove USB drive during gameplay to prevent unexpected errors]
the USB drive has to be plugged in during startup and during gameplay at all times. there's nothing but dummy data on the drive that while can be copied, its functions cannot be replicated on another usb drive. however from what i'm hearing so far the USB drives are starting to have reading errors though it only affected a few ppl.
Mo7 is truly faithful addition to the MO series, despite what other ppl will complain about the story, art and music; there's nothing wrong with them, they made MO7 into a first love story with a very strong and powerful narrative, however i felt that at one point the story was made too emotionally distressing and tense even for memories off (Mo5's suicide scene was nowhere as depressed) that it reminded me abit of PS Air.
for those of you who are wondering as to why Chinatsu went co-co with a shovel over the main protagonist's head...
Chinatsu: "i forbid you from remembering!!!!"
it's all because of the time capsule and the promise they made UNDER the tree, and on that fateful day when everything went to hell and why Naoki's memories are not real and why they are extremely consistent with chinatsu's attempts to be by his side forever as his bride.
also eternal shin shows interest in woman again not seen since yue rejected him, he has 2 amusement park tickets which he gives you saying that his "friend" couldn't make it.
anyways its fun to make pinky promises with every girl you see in this game and then go straight to the bad ending with a crazed chinatsu. (its not really her fault though)
looks like memories off 8 has started development.
