Heh, I remember the first time I beat the game. I got a beating from any enemy I encountered, got shot to pieces 8 out of 10 times and merely lariatted and haymakered my way through. Then I started on normal, realized most brown strikers beat the crap out of me and started learning more defense. (and the devil spin kick) It all comes down knowing which enemies appear where, which weapons to use where and most importantly, how to defend and counter attacks. You'll need it if you try hard or ultra.

So playing Oni on the normal or hard mode doesn't necessarily mean less health packs. Normal or hard mode means the A.I. is improved?

As far as I know the health packs, ammo and number of enemies remains the same. They just get harder in a few ways.

On harder levels, their HP increases. Backbreaker still kills the lowest enemies in one shot, but stronger enemies like certain red strikers, tankers, SWAT agents and elites can take two or even three of them. They might also be doing more damage with their attacks. Their class might also go up. (a brown striker on easy might be replaced by a blue striker on normal and a red striker on hard)

One thing you'll notice is that the AI gets smarter. On easy, lots of enemies will go down if you keep wailing on them. On harder levels, they'll start blocking lots of attacks, use more powerful moves or run up to you and toss you. They get smart. Strikers, for example, will do a forward roll sometimes if you try to sledgehammer heel them in the back.

On Ultra mode (killmequick-cheat), tankers get up nearly instantly after doing a nuclear tackle and elites recover much faster from a cannonball.

My own tactic on harder levels is to stay defensive, trying to take advantage of enemies making a move that leaves them vulnerable and I tend to block a lot. I also counter certain attacks (like rushing in or jumping attacks) with a devil spin kick or rising fury punch. Most enemies can be thrown after you blocked their first assault. Hit them while they're down, get agressive while they're getting up and take some distance if you manage to recover.

i just beat it but i can't get the cheats to work. which screen to i enter them in and are they case sensitive??

the end. the generator blew up and destroyed a city block or 72. so therefore to keep the rest of the world poisined by the "outside world" everyone is going to get a chrysalis.

That doesn't sound like a much of an ending. Konoko was upset because she was used in an experiment by having this chrysalis planted in her. Now that everyone is exposed to all the outside poisons, they're all going to need a chrysalis to survive. The story doesn't seem to solve any problems, if fact it seems to create a bigger problem.

I think they were planning a continue for it.

I'd have to say so, i've played through it the first time on normal, and it's a challenging, fun game the first time through.

Try it out, i had a copy burned from a friend, and lucky i did. He lost it shortly after and we've exchanged it once or twice.
