Yes this is that game. It's like right by a sewer area if I remember correctly.

And the machine gun on the game makes a noise when used that sounded like the theme tune to "Live and Kicking" a saturday morning kids show...lol me and my mates used to say that...

And is there those monsters with long tongues? They scared me!

Yeah the first one you see of those monsters pops out of a pit in like the second level or something and scares the hell out of you. Then there are those cyborg guys that make the scraping metal sound when they're near, and they run really fast and can knock you across the room. That's what I remember most about this game.

Is the PS1 version exactly the same? or not?

I would imagine so, though both versions of the game are going to be hard to find. I found Quake I&II in a thrift store for like $1.00 each, and I haven't seen them anywhere else, except maybe from the id Software online store.

This was, honestly one of the best games I ever bought for my PC. I got it back in 2000 and even then it seemed a bit outdated (graphics wise) but the mods and the add-ons made it great. The only problem today is finding a reliable server to play on (besides the all seeing eye). MSN had a fun lil q2 chat room where u could come outta the game and rag everyone u just railed all to hell, but they shut it down. It lagged the hell outta da game neway. If ne1 knows of a good server (it would be nice if there was a chat, but hey) with good q2 games, let me know.
