I believe you are referring to the Orange Box. Why get a PS3 just for Orange Box though? It's on the PC and X-box 360. -------------------

If you have a PS2 right now you should hang on to it since it's the only console that will play every PS2 and PS1 game. The 40GB PS3 does not have backwards compatibility with PS2 games. -------------------

The first Half-Life has it's best graphics on the PS2 version. The High Def pack has nothing on it. I was hoping HL Source would have it's graphics but it didn't (it had worse graphics than the non source because it didn't use the HD texture pack). ![]() As you can see this Barney looks more like the Barney in HL2. -------------------

quote Master of the VGYeah I'd heard the whole PS3 compatibility stuff...its annoying. So what do you mean by hang on to it? I mean, you say the 40GB PS3 does not allow PS2 or PS1 games to be played...so which memory PS3 does? As I do know some people who have told me all there games are fine on PS3.. Peace! -------------------

re: Half-Life General Discussion |
quote RabshThe PS2 version of HL1 is graphically superior, plus the voices don't sound as scratchy as the PC. The PC version of HL2 and the EP's is the best choice. quote Desert_Motel_DreamsThe US 60GB will play all PS2 games, the UK 60GB version will only play some of them, they both play PS1 games fine. The 40GB was a cost cutting design so has no BC for PS2 games at all. The PS3 version has a problematic frame rate caused by the quick saving on HL2, EP1 and EP2. Portal and TF2 are fine. This can be overcome by pausing the game after quick saving for a few seconds, my cuz bought the ps3 version and tested this out so I know what I'm talking about, but he only tested this in HL2 not EP1 or 2 and EP2 has the most problems.

quote TheComedyGuyI see and what games will play? Only ones from a certain year onwards? And, about this problematique frame rate...sure its not because you bought it new? New games or products are just a batch, and if things are wrong, they sort them out and then after a few monthes they bring out the batch that works fine.. Could it be that? -------------------

re: Half-Life General Discussion |
quote Desert_Motel_DreamsThe PS2 compatibility. The US 60GB got full support for PS2 games, we only got PS2 firmware software emulation or whatever its called, here is a compatibility list http://faq.eu.playstation.com/bc/bcGames.htm;ZSESSIONID=H4nynmZysv7vqy9nlj1CR9gP2qy3rL0cgS9Zg4RnWJSPZGQt6xGv!73331366?locale=en_GB I didn't buy the PS3 Orange Box I already have the PC version. And no I'm afraid it wouldn't be that because I assume that you've heard that Valve were not behind the development of the ps3 version (Gabe Newell hates PS3) and shrugged the game off onto EA and that they did a piss poor job at best. There have been several articles about the shoddy frame rate and that its a very poor port. This message was edited by TheComedyGuy on Dec 30 2007.

So the PS3 Orange Box version is also as shoddy frame rate as the PC version?! -------------------
