Hello- My name is Dana (Blackheartedwolf)and I am 28 yrs old (female.) I just ordered the game online. I am hoping I will like it- though I am bummed out that this is not a free roaming/ranging game like Bloodrayne or GTA3. I heard about this game from Laura J, so I am hoping if she likes it, that I will too!

Welcome to the DMC forum! I'm sure you will like the game. Aslong as you have some patience with hard parts! Feel free to ask for help in the [Mission Help Thread]

Dana's more of the type to give help than request it. Heheh.
Anyway, Mandarb's right. It's hard not to fall in love with this masterpiece of Capcom. At first, I had my doubts. Mission-based? blek. One playable character? cringe. Having to pay for power-ups? ew. But, DMC won me over at the first boss fight w/Phantom. I got my ass handed to me on a plate. And I loved it! I play games for a challenge, not amusement! I only know of one person on the planet who dislikes this game. And she hates it because she thinks it's too hard! Jeez, what a wuss... -------------------

quote Laura JA challenge is a challenge. But playing the SAME level 20 or 30 times with no result is a chore. You know it's true. ------------------- Games don't kill people, GUNS kill people o__O

Why would you play the same mission over and over? You mean if you couldn't do it? Then when you finaly do you'll be realy happy right? And you'll feel proud of your self and wanna go beat up more puppets right? Right! So go and try that level again Lifeguard.

I believe the time and effort is worth it. I'd much rather be forced to develope a distinctive strategy while fighting a boss, rather than just pounding the fire button until he curls up and dies. I don't want to get through a game without getting pissed once or twice. (Nightmare!
One thing that I loved about DMC was the difficult boss battles that require thought and precision. And, some moan and gripe over the fact that the bosses were repeated several times thoughout the game, instead of having a dozen different ones. I prefer the path taken in DMC. To make it through the repetitive, but increasingly difficult boss fights, the player needed to prefect a strategy. You were eased into the difficulty, so that the final showdown with that particular boss could be as hard as possible, and you'd have something to build on from past experience. Man, this is a great game... -------------------

re: New Members & General Discussion |
quote Punk MunkieI don't have the game yet. I'll probably only get it during the summer. AFter finals, i'm going to be VERY busy with Vice city Btw, just so you don't misunderstand, I WAS refering to the fact that sometimes if you can't pass a level and you have to repeat it more than 10 times, it's a real pain and not enjoyable. Yeah, maybe you can eventually beat it, but you have to realize that some people don't have the patience or simply CAN'T beat the level no matter how much experience they can scrape together. I'm just trying to make you guys realize that there are two sides to every situation. but i agree, if i can't beat a level, i'll keep trying. Like with MGS2, i had a hard time beating Vamp on the hard setting, so i fought him like 6 or 7 times before i beat him. anyway, the point is, a challenge is a challenge. but there's only a certain amount of time that a human will sit there and try to figure out how to beat a video game baddy, no matter the satisfaction that might come eventually. ------------------- Games don't kill people, GUNS kill people o__O

Heh, you say I have to realize that some people dont have the patience? I am always advising people who are contemplating buying this game that they need patience!

quote Punk MunkieThank you- when I get stuck I always visit the forum for old threads or look at a guide. Once I know how to do something, Laura is right- I try my best to give help. I hate getting stuck in games. But the feeling of accomplishment once I get through a difficult part is very gratifying.

re: New Members & General Discussion |
quote Punk MunkieI'm not saying YOU don't realize this. I was refering to the member who called their friend a wuss cuz they thought the game was too hard. I was just trying to make them realize that even if someone has patience, they won't enjoy repeating a level 20 times. It's practically impossible. But whatever . .. this discussion isn't very useful to anyone. I just wanted them to realize that calling their friend a wuss was probably a bad move made on ignorance or assumptions. ------------------- Games don't kill people, GUNS kill people o__O

She is a wuss. She's the kind of female that makes "girl" an insult. If you knew her, you'd agree! Don't make the assumption that I'm making assumptions!
Like Dana was saying, if you really can't get through a level, seek advice. If my friend would just ask me for help, she wouldn't be stuck on the same level! -------------------

re: New Members & General Discussion |
quote Laura Jwell, i don't know you, and i don't know your friend. so you're right. assumptions aren't gonna get us anywhere. but i don't go and diss my friends behind their backs like that . .. but whatever, it's your life, it's your friends. and not everyone likes video games as much as you do. so give them a break if they don't share your enthusiasm or your desire to "ask for help". it's cool with me if you like games a lot, i do too, but i do'nt go insulting my friends who don't play games the exact same way that i would. i'm sure some of your friends could whoop your butt at stuff they like and you don't. i'm sure you're not a bad person, but the impression that you're giving me isn't a very good one. ------------------- Games don't kill people, GUNS kill people o__O
