Dancemat problems |
|
I'm having HUGE problems with the Topway PSX/PC mat. It just won't register my steps correctly. When I step on any of the buttons I can count myself lucky if it just reports that I just stepped on half of the buttons and not all of them... I'm using the parallel port to connect it to my PC, Windows XP and NTpad XP v2.01. Has anyone ever encounterd this? Does anyone have a clue as to what I should do? The mat was cheap, but seriously, it can't be this shitty...

The problem with the early topway PSX mat was that it always had trouble pulling two registrations off at once. The problem with the pad is that it see's the U,D,L,R setup as an Axis like with a joystick, you can't pull a joystick left and right or up and down at the same time so the pad wont do it either. =/ sadly this is the major downfall of the pad and I never really figured out a way around it on the PC side of things. If I recall correctly it performs fine on the limited selection from the PSX.

Well, that isn't really the problem I'm having. My problem is that when I push one button, several other gets activated. Any idea how I can solve this?

Ok, fixed one of the problems. I switched the convertorbox (PS2 -> Serial) to a PS2 -> USB one and that solved the press-one-press-all problem. Unfortunately, now has the axis problem you mentioned reared it's ugly head. But strangely enough, only on the X axis. So I remapped the left and right buttons to the lowerleft and lowerright buttons. It works, but reaching the up-button is quite a stretch...
I'm now thinking of buying a whole new dancemat, since this has just been causing so much problems. I found this one from reading one of your roundups: http://www.buynshop.com/productinfophp3/VG-DDR-ULTDX the "BNS DX-Xtreme Pad". Is this a good buy? Can I buy from this site? I usally a bit antsy about giving away my creditcard number so I just want to check if anyone here has bought anything from them.... | |

Umm, hey guys, something happened to my dancemat. It worked perfectly as i expected it to for about a year and a half, and then the plastic by the down arrow got torn and now i have to use a lot of pressure to hit down. Do i have to replace my baby? Please help.

There is a store called Gamestop or EB Games in California, don't know about other states or countries, but they replace your mat if you give them your broken one and an additional 10 dollars which I think is a pretty good deal.
