The Mario Party Series

Now as we all know the Mario Party series has been out since the Nintendo 64. The first Mario Party came out back in 1998. Almost 11 years ago. And almost each year there would be a new one released.

Some believe that after the Nintendo 64 days, the quality of the Gamecube games weren't as great. Nor was the DS version. Mario Party 8 got mixed reactions because of the Wii controls for it.

What is your opinion on the Mario Party series? Are the games still good? Have the quality gone down? What are your favorites?

Really? I liked Mario Party 3 the best, Mario Party 2 didn't impress me that much.

But the series is still awesome.

I've played all of the Mario Party games I believe. If not I'm missing one of them.

I personally believe that the 3rd one was the best. I got addicted to that one a lot more than the rest. I also liked the partner battle thing as well. That definitely made me play the game for hours plus have the character heads on the mountains in the screen was pretty sweet as well.

I believe as I said in the first post, that the Mario Party games have gotten worse as the went on after MP3. MP1 was a pretty good game, I enjoyed collecting the 100 stars and unlocking the secret levels in it. MP2 I thought was pretty good as well. The costume idea was a great idea. My opinion for 3 has been stated. MP4 I didn't really like for the longest time. I found it to be the worst of the series and kind of still do. But it is fun to play with friends. MP5 was actually pretty good imo. Possibly my second favorite. MP6 was alright. MP7 was better than 6. And MP8 I didn't play a lot but the controls were hard to do.

Every Mario Party game does have a difference and that's coming from someone who hates the newer ones. Just the quality of those games aren't just as good as the N64 games.

Here's my rankings out of the ones I've played.

Mario Party 3 was phenomanal. I was really impressed with the game boards, like the Ocean one and the Ice one. Also, it was the first to include Daisy and Waluigi, who were some of my favorites early on. The mini-games were great as well. I remember The racing ones and Bumper Balls as my favorite ones.

Mario Party 6 was good because of the Day to Night sequencing, especially in the mini-games. I alwaysed loved playing games more at night. The mini-games were good as well.

Mario Party 2 was also good because it was the first one I played. With the costumes, and the fun mini games, most notably the hexagon run, Cannonball Dodge, Boo Escape on skateboards, and Bobsled Race, it was always fun.

I loved the idea of the cruise on Mario Party 7. I remember that the game boards worked out well too. I believe there were 8-Player mini-games that made it even more fun.

Mario Party 5 wasn't the greatest, but had nothing bad to it either.

Mario Party Advance wasn't too bad actually. The story mode, through going on missions was fun. It's just the lack of multiplayer that got it down.

I didn't play too much of Mario Party, but I was young, and the controls were kind of hard for me, in some mini-games.

And Mario Party 4 was just bleh. There were some decent mini-games, like Avalanche and Snowman Furry, but the boards were boring.

Hmm. Playing the N64 games might make me think less of the GCN ones, though I don't think they would get me to think MP5>MP4, which was what my joke comment was aimed at. However, I'm well aware that differing opinions exist so I'm not going to pretend there's a right and wrong here.

I didn't go too far into it, but I just got a really bad first impression so I didn't care to continue on.

Yeah, but I always I see people complaining about how each game has very little differences from each other, when most (if not, all) of them have a lot of differences. For example, Mario Party 8 has a lot of differences from Mario Party 7.

Yeah, I don't really like Mario Party 1 and Mario Party 4 either. I like the rest of them though. And how about Mario Party DS? Have you not played that one?
