It left out a lot of things that made the great game great. The battles were where the most differance was the battles. The first two had turn paced battles, where this one was more action like. It depends on what you prefer. I prefer the strategy and lengthyness to the turn based ones.

Then there's the differance in characters. In the first game, all characters were Mario based, except for a few bosses, and the stars. There were Goombas, Koopas, Pokeys, Mousers, Bob-Bombs, Cheep Cheeps, Toads, Yohis, etc. I loved how in each town, and even along the road, everyone had their own stories, and it evolved as you progressed in the game. Paper Mario: TTYD was the same, but brought in some new characters like the X-Nauts. However, the polygon people in Super Paper Mario I can't get used to. They don't even look like part of the series.

The graphics, I loved how the originals were 2-d Paper like chracters, but the world was in 3-d. It brought a great element into the game, and made the areas seem more interactive. The sidescroller look, and switching to 3-d doesn't have the same effect. It's not as visually appealing to me. Especially the houses.

It all depends on what you prefer, and I happen to prefer the originals a lot more. Super Paper Mario is almost nothing like the first two games. If it had a differant name, it wouldn't have been compared to Paper Mario at all, which would've been a good thing for it.

That game has already been released? Wow, I had no idea. I'll have to check it out sometime soon.

According to it's Wikipedia article, it'll be released on November 15th in North America.

I actually found the release date for NSMBWii after I made that post. Just never updated. I just went to the NSMBWii forum. Anyone think I should put a link to the forum in the header to advertise it?

You should include a link to both that and Super Mario Galaxy 2 in the header.
