The time is from the psx version...if you're not using the psx version then you cannot accurately compare times (PC and GC versions have faster loading times and will give you much faster finishing times).

For Leon A the "record" is 1hr and 14min 57sec using the rocket launcher (I have beaten it since): the fastest times possible would probably be 1:13 with the launcher. Fairly I've done approx 1hr 16min and 30sec however with a few new tricks up my sleeve I should go under 1:16. Knife only I've done 1hr 35min and 19sec...I may be able to go under 1:30.

Are you serious? Less than a hour and fifteen?

It took me like 9 hours! Damn thats nice.

From what I've learned in RE:2 the psx version may be able to be completed (no specials used) in a time of around 1:14-1:15 (this is from my work as well as the work of another expert gamer, Vincent Merkin). For the gamecube version is may be possible to go around 1:05 or so...PC would be under 1 hour.

I've been playing RE:2 since 1998 and since then I've completed the first scenario for Leon 100+ times. It is the easiest in my opinion however the Leon B scenario may be the quickest of them all (I need to practice it a bit to find out).

In my current RE:2 Leon A speed runs the following are examples of how restrictive it is:

-No handgun rounds are picked up...ever.
-1 box of shotgun shells are picked up
-The shotgun parts are NOT picked up
-2 magnum clips are picked up
-The magnum parts are picked up
-1 first aid spray is used (no other health is needed...this could easily be reduced to none but it would require more ammo to take down enemies).
-1 storage chest visit is made.

All in all you should end with little to no ammo and no real room for improvement (although there's always a chance that something has been skipped).

Here's a list of all the things I've done with survival horror games (well most of the things anyway).

1) My fastest time in the original Resident Evil (psx) under a knife only game is 1hr and 22min with improvement still within reach: Jill's scenario.

2) My fastest Resident Evil (psx) time with the launcher was 1hr 3min and 4 sec (I could use a good deal of help through practice on that one): Chris's scenario.

3) In Resident Evil 2 (psx version: GC and PC version would yield lower times due to loading differences...and they do vary GREATLY) I have completed the Leon A scenario with only the knife in 1hr 35min and 19sec...with my current skill level leading me to believe that I can complete it in under 1hr and 30min...may be possible to do so with an A rank.

4) In Resident Evil 2 (psx version) I can complete the Leon A scenario fairly in 1hr 16min and 30sec...I believe I can reduce that by 1-2 minutes in a perfect run.

**NOTE** In Resident Evil 2 I can do:
-knife only games
-handgun only games
-shotgun only games
-magnum only games (can't attack until you reach the magnum)
-no storage chest games (turns into a handgun/knife only game as no other weapons will fit).:-p
-no healing games (not even a green herb...heck not even a blue herb).
-I've also completed a 100% kill game in around 3hrs and 30min (normal mode: Brad wasn't killed as he's a secret zombie...and killing the 20 zombies in the beginning with only the knife would be a bit tricky).

5) In Resident Evil 3 I completed a knife only game on hard mode in 2hrs and 22min (note this was my first and only knife attempt on this game and under 2 hours would be what I'd really shoot for).

6) In Resident Evil: Dead Aim I've successfully completed normal mode in 29minutes and 30seconds...I'd also like to point out that this was only after 4 days of practice (completed the game 12 times in 4 days...however at this point my learning curve for speeding games has increased a great deal...it is thus far the most recent game I've rushed through).

7) I can complete Silent Hill in under 45minutes on hard mode with the good+ ranking (my best time under these circumstances has been 44min and 22sec without using bullet adjust). My best time on normal mode is 41min and 39sec with the bad+ ending. I've also done a 10 star run without using bullet adjust (might want to try a 10 star speed run someday...figure under 1:15 would be challenging enough but probably not possible).

**NOTE** - the normal mode time of 41min and 39sec was started from a new game and therefor another minute was added on thanks to the beginning cheryl business that doesn't appear in NEXT FEAR mode. The hard mode time was done from a NEXT FEAR mode to make a sub 45minute run possible (may still be possible but extremely hard).

8) I can complete the Maria scenario of SH2 on hard mode in 7min and 19sec


Overall I feel I'm getting fairly good at speed running these games however I still have a long way to go (but I'm also 19 whereas most of the great survial horror gamers I've talked with are a good 6-8+ years older than me).

Also note that I do offer video tape recordings showing anything you'd want to see. However for this to happen I'd have to be shown a kick ass recording of something you could do and that I'd like to see.

Why did you want to know anyway?

To get the rocket launcher you must complete either character's 1st scenario (scenario A) with an A ranking.

Using the rocket launcher will lower your rank in future games...however twingalaxies does track this game under:

"All weapons"
"Out of the Box"
"Knife Only"

In this case using the rocket launcher will be considered apart of the "All Weapons" category. It is also important to know that certain systems will be tracked seperately (Psx cannot be compared to PC or GC...N64 is also tracked seperately). Also note that the "Out of the Box" style simply means a normal game with normal weapons.

Why are the RE:1 times unbelievable if the actual world records at www.twingalaxies.com (verified by VHS recording from start to finish) are 3 minutes better than my rocket launcher run and 7 minutes better than my knife only run?

As for Silent Hill...I won't try to explain. I offer VHS recordings to any expert gamer who can show me their skills as well (mainly looking for survival horror gamers however I have an interest in Metal Gear Solid as well).
