Panic Attacks

I had really bad panic attacks for years. I was a very anxious child for several reasons and missed lots of school because I just couldn't deal with all my OCD shit. When I was 15 my boyfriend gave me mushy tea made with hundreds of magic mushrooms. Not surprisingly I had a bad trip. That was only the start. I literally could not leave the house alone and then very rarely. I missed my exams, couldn't work, lost my friends. I sat in my room for about 2 1/2 years. If I tried to go out alone, which was only at four AM because no-one else was around, initially my heart would race, get clammy and cold, shake uncontrollably. To me this wasn't the worst thing about it, it was the fear. It's hard to explain but if you can imagine walking across a road and very nearly being hit by a car it's like that total panic and thinking you're going to die. If I told people what was wrong with me they'd roll out the old cliche of 'pull yourself together'. I never had therapy. In the end I had a baby. When you're going to be a Mum you have to see midwives and go to Mothercare and all that crap. I HAD to pull myself together. You will too. It's a state of mind, like an addiction perhaps, you'll become strong enough one day to just tell your brain to shut up. I still have to do that sometimes. Whenever it starts shout in your mind that it won't win, you're the boss. Another tactic could be to use Prozac which is primarily for depression. When I took it and the anxiety disappeared it was then I realised I was anxious in the first place. Anyway, let me know how you're getting on.
