I usualy set the inclination to 1.5 and maintain a constant pace at the speed of 11.5

This is using the Fitness first Treadmills if anyone knows fitnessfirst im sure all the gyms in uk use the same treads in there gyms.

I've found that smoking greatly decreases your cardiovascular endurance. After just a few cigarettes I can notice a big difference when I go for a run the next day. Currently I do a high intensity interval workout at the gym. I jog at 6kph for 1minute, then sprint at 14.5kph for 30 seconds, and I repeat that for 30 minutes. I end up burning just under 300 calories, and by the end of the workout my legs are normally quite dead. Today at the gym though I had to absolutely force myself to keep going, and I stopped at just 20 minutes and was really, really tired by then. I'm not sure why, I haven't smoked in ages and I don't think I've changed anything in my diet. I woke up feeling dehydrated, so that might have something to do with it. What would you guys recommend I eat before a workout?

Now that I think about it, I actually ate meat, potato's and rice before my gym session today. I'm not exactly sure how long that was prior to my workout, but I'm guessing it was around 1 hour.

Yeah, I think it was a combination of what I ate and being slightly dehydrated. I went back to the gym yesterday and completed my workout without any dramas, although I did feel like stopping 2 minutes early, but you don't get anywhere taking shortcuts.

For people in your case I always like to recommend the starting strength routine by Mark Rippetoe, he wrote a great book about how to perform the lifts, why, how to eat and so on. You are the exact target market too, young guys with sky high testosterone levels and huge recovery abilities, with your body just begging to get under the bar to add some muscle and strength. The routine works the whole body three times a week, because that amount of frequency works well for a beginner, and many people have achieved great things with the routine. It isn't more complicated than it needs to be, and with the right nutrition you will progress very well. If you have any more questions about the routine/eating etc, feel free to ask them on this forum too
