Arteries and Pulse Question

So I was in kinesiology class today when my teacher mentioned that the pulse that you take in your wrists is your arteries. Now upon looking at my wrists and a bit up my forearms, I can see it pulsing, and it's pretty visible. I don't know anyone else who has their pulse so visible.

So my question is, if these are arteries, won't there be some problems if they ever get cut or something like that? Or is it not much different than getting cut on like a vein?

I can see my pulse quite a bit, specially after exercise.



o and if you cut an artery there's a massive difference compared to veins

blood spurts out really far, depending on where it is

theres an artery down the inner thigh that'll spray blood like 50m if cut, and I don't exaggerate...

just watch like ER or something, it'll answer most of your medical queries

You can lose a lot of blood out hte the arteries because it is held under such a high pressure going around the body, so it spurts out fast and potentially far, as Taio mentioned. Just don't cut yourself there and you will be fine. I don't see how you would be able to cut yourself deep enough to cause a massive amount to damage by accident, unless it was a major accident.

I have the same thing, but mine is due to a heart condition. I can see the area right above my heart, my neck and sometimes on my wrist move alot of the time, and if I press my hand on it and try to stop it then its powerful enough to move my hand too.
