A Little Too Long

Has anyone else noticed that we seem to have a decisive lack of firepower behind the majority of our ships? I can see why they would not want us to have the ability to destroy anything we want at our own volition within a few moments, but come on, I don't expect to spend five minutes with my Achilles class destroyer firing down on another ship with disabled engines for ten minutes, waiting for them to die.

While I'm all good for long fights, what is it with shields holding under the fire of not just one ship, but five?
