can anybody else make dominion wars work with XP??
it's a top game but it's all flicky in XP

i can but the mouse moves REALLY SLOW.... my version is 1.4 ?

I also get a flicky, slow mouse.
i found a patch, but it's for the US version!!
need one for the UK!!

Would you mind telling me where to get the patch for the US version? The slow-mouse thing is killing me!

Hey. Same thing happened with me. There is no patch, but I called the developers and got a solution. Fallow these and tell my if they work. If they don't, mail me and I'll see what I can do.
1. On your desktop, left clip on the dominion Wars icon and select Properties.
2. On the tap menu on the top of the box, select compatibility.
3. Where is has the scroll menu(or whatever they're called) Select Windows 98/Windows Me
Three easy to fallow steps that should get it done.

Tried the compatibility thing - I just get a message telling me that "FThunk****.dll is missing"
or something similar!

there must be a solution.....somewhere!

im running it on XP and it works fine. just switch the color to 16bit and you wont get the slow mouse problem. also, when you do compatibility, make it 98/ME and disable visual themes.

One last thing. make sure your screen res is 1024 x 768 or lower

When i launch DomWars, the videos play fine, but the menus stutter, and it takes forever for me to scroll my mouse over. i can barely get into a game then it randomly crashes.
i am running a 2.0GHz AMD Athlon XP
512MB Ram
60-80Gig HDD
Windows XP Home w/ all updates
ATI Radeon 9000 w/ updates
and Dom Wars won't let me update. it says "Old file not found. however, a file with the same name was found. no update done since files do not match." this all happens no matter how, where or when i install it. could it be a bad disc?

The only problems I was having was mouse slowdown in-mission, and even that didn't start until mission 4. But that right-clicking on the icon and telling the game to run in ME compatability mode fixed it right up.

I had the very same problem: the mouse just moved a couple of times a second - unplayable.
I also got an error message when I ran it in win98 mode.

My solution:
- disable any dual-monitor / video display an go to a resolution of 1024 @ 16 bit or lower.
In my case that worked!

My system: WinXP / P4@2,66 GHz / GeForce Ti 4200

Go to site download the fix and run game in compatibilty mode 98/ME. No Thunk error. Hehehehehehe

it started just fine on mine XP. and froze once in the middle of the game just finished it after three days playing
