System Preference?

Couldn't decide where to post this, so I thought I'd just put it here:

Does anyone have a preference of which system to buy games that are out on both SNES and Genesis? I have both, and am looking to expand my game collection, but most of the games I want are available on both consoles. So I thought I'd seek some advice from anyone who has both...

(If this belongs somewhere else, I'll put it there)

re: System Preference?

For the most part I prefer my Sega Genesis since I have the Nomad and can play it on the road. However I'd say it depends on what your situation is. An AV cable is better than the RF adapter. If one system has the AV cable while the other has RF then I'd go with the AV system. If you play one system more often than the other than I'd get it for that system.

re: System Preference?

A lot of those games that have slight differences between console versions are noted on wikipedia. Take Mortal Kombat for example, the Snes are Genesis versions are only slightly different but the Snes version has censored the blood to sweat instead. Lots of games just have little differences like that, might aswell just find the wikipedia page for the game you want and find out.

I should also mention that controllers also can make a difference. The default Genesis controller has three buttons (although there are some with 6 buttons) while the standard SNES has four. Some games work better with the four buttons than with the three (like Zombies Ate My Neighbors).
