differences between Ps2 version and PC |
|
I just wanted to ask everyone what the differences are between the two versions, - I have played the PC version only and was wondering if i should bother with the ps2 version or just wait for HL2 (which will be in september/november this year!)

The PC version is better than the PS2 version in every respect: Graphics, sound, gameplay, and the feel of the game is better... it was meant to be played on the PC. The PS2 version had 2 played multiplayer, but the PC version had online multiplayer... much better. ------------------- Windows XP Home 32-bit 2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo 3GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8600M 256MB

What about the storyline difference? becuase i think one of the major factores of half life is of course its story line, without that, it would be a pretty lame game, annnnnyways, does the story line change for the two systems, pc,ps2, or does it stay the same, becuase i've played Opposeing force, and Blueshift, for pc, and i've just rented Half life for the ps2, and there are noticable differences in gameplay, but anyways, does the storyline change? like majorly, or is it the same?

The storyline is exactly the same... it's pretty much a sloppy port of the PC version... with some minor changes in some of the level designs, but the story is exactly the same. ------------------- Windows XP Home 32-bit 2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo 3GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8600M 256MB

I'm sure they'd have it at Best Buy or Circuit City or any video game store... it was a HUGE game wne it came out and it's still very popular. You should get it because it's way better than the PS2 version. ------------------- Windows XP Home 32-bit 2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo 3GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8600M 256MB

the ps2 version of half life has better graphics and better gameplay. It however did lack multiplayer so the pc version wins that

quote mrbobUm, no, no, and yes. The graphics and the gameplay are MUCH better on the PC especially if you have the high definition pack that comes with Blue Shift. The controls are a shit load better on the PC and the over all feel of the PC version is better. If you haven't played the PC version then you don't know what I'm talkin about, but if you have you;d agree with me. ------------------- Windows XP Home 32-bit 2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo 3GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8600M 256MB

well as far as i'm conserned the graphics are pretty much the same for both other then the ai's eyes, i haven't played it but i've seen one lever of half life played on the computer, and their eyes just aren't as good as they are on the ps2, but the game seems more real, on the pc, more like at any second some zombie or crab creature is gonna jump out and eat you, don't know how to explain it, i haven't played half-life one on the computer, but i've played opposing force, and blueshift, and compaired to the ps2 half-life, they seem more real

Are you playing Blue Shift and Opposing Force with the High Definition Pack? Cause if you are you should be able to see a HUGE difference between the PS2 and the PC... the PC DOES have better graphics, no matter what you may see or think, and the feel of the game on the PC is better... it's more real and scarier and much more action packed. I've always said FPS were meant to be played on the PC and Half-Life is a perfect example. ------------------- Windows XP Home 32-bit 2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo 3GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8600M 256MB

of course i play them with the high def pack, it comes with blue shift, and i honestly can say, i don't see any difference, other then in the eyes and the brightness, and not all fps's are meant to be played on the pc, Medal of Honor frontline, Hitman 2 ((if choosen to play in first person)) Red faction one and 2, a couple of the aliens games, and countless others, all work beautifully on the PS2

All FPS are meant to be played on the PC... they started that way. Just because they play fine on a console, doesn't mean they aern't a whole lot better on the PC. Using a mouse and keyboard gives you so much more percision with aiming and over all control. Not to mention when you play on a PC you are generally closer to the screen so you can make the really important shots and it also seems more like you are in the action. ------------------- Windows XP Home 32-bit 2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo 3GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8600M 256MB

Oh, suddenly you are the one being bothered? You have nerve, man. You were the one that came here and asked someone something. I was the one that helped you. Now because I'm telling you something you don't want to believe for some reason, I'm wasting your time? I think I deserve an apology, or at least a thank you for helping you out. Don't be a jerk, man... make friends, not enemies. ------------------- Windows XP Home 32-bit 2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo 3GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8600M 256MB
