Seriously, that rumor is false. There is NO SUCH THING as a door after you get 120 stars. Trust me, a few of us here HAVE beaten the game and all you get at 120 stars is:

Only rumors I've heard are how to unlock Luigi (I once read a "Guide" that had 12 different ways to unlock him ) and how to unlock Wario or Yoshi. Pretty much the only ones I've heard of.
