As far as I care, someone who hasn't played it on NES won't know the difference.

If they want to go for authenticity in the remake, they could look for Origins on the PS1, since that at least kept the spell slot magic system whereas the GBA version threw that out for the conventional MP system (which shot the difficulty of the game right down the toilet).

Nora, it was more than the MP change that made DoS easy as all hell. Heck, the only reason I'm doing FWMLLNCC on DoS is to give THAT version some difficulty. I might even try FBMNM after, since that's doable on Origins.

FFIX should be easy. Once you've completed it you should start on the rest.

Definitely start with VII, that's what most people started with when they became FF fans. Otherwise you may be put off by the graphics.

It may be easy, but that doesn't mean you should start with it. I don't think you should start from a PS2 game and work your way down, it's better to work your way up. You may be less impressed. Besides, VII's materia system was pretty easy. It's VIII that may be a problem to new players.

Just read up about the games and decide which interests you more to start with. There aren't any rules.

I say start with 7.

I started with VII but start with I if you want to play the whole series, the classics are easily the best (The ones in pixels, I - VI)

A FF marathon is tons of fun when you have immense time to burn.

I would not start with VII though.

I don't think you need to play them in any particular order since they all vary in their stories, but if you wanted to see the progressive change in the entire series it is very fun to play them in order.

Wow that is quite the biased view.
