Music Mafia III - Judgment Day [Game Thread]

They sat at a large table, visualizing their future plans for their next hits. Are they gonna sell-out? Are they gonna go back to basics? Are they going to reinvent themselves and see what people think?

There's always another option...






“It's locked in.”

“Really?”

“Yep. You guys are confirmed for a new season.”

“Glad to hear it. I'll alert the crew.”

“But there's a kicker.”


Puzzled, the busy man turned around and walked back to the other individual with a stern look on his face. He just knew there was something behind this, he just had to find out what.

“The ratings are declining steadily. So this is your last shot.”





“They think I'm Tupac... they think I'm Bob Marley...”





They spent all day looking for their way back home. Back to where they really started. They couldn't wait to see if anything had changed. They got lost a couple of times along the way, but eventually, once they got past through all the rubber they ended up making it. They were satisfied to say the least.





Here is Entertainment Tonight! With your hosts, Mark Steines and Nancy O'Dell.


“Welcome all, ladies and gentlemen, and what a hot summer did we come off of, when we witnessed the rebranding of MTV for a better future.”

“That's right, they've listened to the fans who've been talking for years about how MTV turned to the crapper. So they put their heads together and over the summer, we have witnessed a number of new shows, new initiatives, other shows being canceled and an increase in music videos as well as a focus on generally what the channel should be about: music.”

“So whenever you tune in, be sure to not miss all the specials thrown your way, starting with tonight, a replay of last month's MTV Video Music Awards!”





“Look at those punk-ass bitches.”


He glared at the TV with intense dedication, as if he was collecting every and any single note he could from what he was viewing. One would wonder why he was viewing this show to begin with if he despised what it displayed.


“Bunch of dick-suckin', dick-ridin'... bent-over-the-desk ass niggas, know what I'm sayin'? But who they gonna do that shit to? They gonna do it to ME! Whatever, man.”


Shaking his head frantically, he tried to collect his thoughts before he decided to finally shut the TV off. He sat back down, went back to his original position and then started closing his eyes for a good minute, as if he was praying. Soon enough, he heard a big clanking sound and his eyes scorched right open....






“We're gonna try... these guys.”

He pointed on a map, as a partner sipped on a drink as he approached.

“But.. they're not active anymore. They haven't been for years.”

“They're still a classic though. Somewhat. But you notice what I'm seeing here?”

“...”

He took a closer look and his eyes widened.

“I see.”

“It won't do much – as you said, they're not active anymore. Later is when things are really gonna get interesting.”

The other man placed the glass on the table and wiped his lips off before giving his orders to another in the distance.

“Phone it in.”





Okay, it had been a while. It was time for another reunion. Especially as this time, they both had to watch their backs. Where was he, though?






This popular artist posed in his studio, recording a few tracks for his next project, when the door knocked. He didn't hear. Seconds later, the door opened as a shadowed figure entered the area, without making a sound. He was holding something rather large in his hands. He crept up behind the unaware artist with the huge headphones on, bumping to the beat, before lifting the object and slamming it...

....on the table.

“Brah... scared the *bleep* outta me.”

“Look at this thing right there, shawty. We can get started.”


Both of them stared at the object in question and once their eyes crossed, they both nodded in synchronization. Things were now underway.





The duo never saw it coming. Two gunshots fired, as they each received one up front, right through their skull. They lay on the ground with blood seeping out of their bodies and down the sewers. That was it for them.





As always, people always focus on the mainstream aspect of things. But what about those who also matter? They'll get their time to shine sooner than later... not that most of them give any incentive to. These guys in particular feel pretty comfortable in the position they're in.





"Are you okay, baby?"

"I'm fine.", he said in his most pensive mood yet. He was drenched in his thoughts, wondering where to go from here.

"You don't look okay."

"I still need time to work on my album. I can't be going all through this, y'know - dealin' with all of THAT, and then still having to work on that album. People have been waitin' forever for it."

"You'll get there, don't worry. A couple more advances and you got it locked in."


He acknowledged her words and nodded. But as he finished his drink, he let out a drawn-out sigh and muttered.


"We can't lose sight of what we really gotta do too. That's put out music. The last two times I tried focusing on this shit, things didn't move forward. But this time, I have to be efficient."


He gets up and walks over to a corner to compose a series of phone calls. He was on his cell phone for hours.





He brought out a bottle of bourbon with him as he walked down the street, ready to go receive his award. Long in the distance, he heard some.. he heard something inhuman!?

The sounds got louder and louder, and he didn't hesitate to make a run for it. Doing so, he dropped the bottle halfway into his step. But despite running for his life, he couldn't get away from these rodents who eventually got to him and ripped his clothes off. Not long before they got to his skin, and a few cries of help later... complete silence.

ROLES: Every player is given a role, and each of them have their own abilities(with exceptions). Your attributed role PM will explain what it does, what you're supposed to do and your win condition. You do not need to reveal your role to other players nor will the designed moderator do so in the in-game write ups. You CAN choose to reveal information about your role at your discretion if you think it'd help you reach your win condition. Claiming is entirely at your own risk, however, as revealing info may be used against you.

Once everyone has signed up, you are sent your role for the game privately by the game’s moderator. Players may not discuss their role with the other players unless they are mafia or their role message specifically states that they can. Roles are almost always assigned randomly by the moderator, so that everyone has an equal shot at getting the various different roles.

If you wish to use your ability, the game's moderator will describe you in your role PM how to. If you wish to ask him questions concerning your role, feel free. You may not post ANY part of your role PM (or anyone else's role PM that you can see) in the game thread except your role title, e.g. Town Aligned Detective


SETUP: A mafia game in its simplest form is a group of “Town” players against a group of “Mafia” players, with each trying to kill off the other side. Town players [as a group] can only kill by lynching and only know their own individual alignment; they have to figure out the alignments of others during the course of the game. The Mafia players know each of the other members of their mafia group [more on multiple mafia groups later] and can communicate with them outside of the thread. The mafia can vote on lynches and have one kill per night. The last team remaining wins.

There are often individual players, who are aligned neither to the town nor to the mafia. Some can win with one or even both groups; others can only win when they are the last surviving character. Individual players that can only win when they are the last man standing must be killed by the Town or Mafia for either of those sides to win. Individually Aligned players are much like the town in the day phase, in that they don’t know who is town or who is mafia, and can only cast votes based on what they learn during the game, though they do have the added plus of knowing they can’t do any direct harm to their own chances… unless they vote for themselves! Voting for yourself is entirely legal, if you feel it will increase your chances of winning; dead town players win if the town wins and dead mafia players win if the mafia wins. Sometimes sacrificing yourself for the good of the majority is an effective way to win.


PHASES: The game is split into two phases, Day and Night. The game begins during the day phase with all players (Town and Mafia alike) posting in the thread deciding who to lynch. Lynching is the town’s main way of eliminating mafia, so be sure to examine everything that your fellow players say in order to find inconsistencies, lies, dodgy voting patterns and anything else that could incriminate people. You can accuse, defend, reason, argue and squabble at will but forum rules apply, so don’t make personal attacks. Day phases will generally last approximately 48 hours or until a consensus is reached on who to lynch. Night phases last approximately 24 hours but may end earlier if all night activities are completed. If you have an optional ability and choose not to use it, please inform the mods via PM so that they know not to wait on your ability. VOTING: All voting and game related discussion is to occur within the game thread. Town players may discuss who they think are Mafia, and Mafia members should be trying to avoid being lynched by bluffing and blending in and generally trying to not get lynched.

To cast a vote you should use this system: Vote: Player’s Name or if changing a vote from one player to another: Change Vote: Player’s Name. Any votes not using this system won’t be counted, as it provides an easy way for the moderator to view votes quickly and efficiently and so should be followed at all times.

Players can also vote for a no lynch by posting: Vote: No Lynch. A no lynch is different from a no vote because, if the no lynch reaches the required amount of votes, the day phase ends prematurely with no lynch occurring.

A no vote means you are abstaining from voting and has no effect on the vote count. To remove your vote you should post: Change Vote: No Vote. The day phase ends when the deadline is reached or when more than half the active players cast their vote for the same player or for a no lynch.

All votes post in the thread for your vote to count and it must be in bold and visible, so no white text votes will be counted. If you vote within a quote then your vote won’t be counted, so if you mess up voting and quote it to edit it then it will not count.



DAY PHASES: A Day Phase is over whenever a person obtains votes from more than 50% of the total number of players remaining, at which point they are lynched. It can also end if the time expires before a lynch is reached, at which point a No Lynch will be declared. There are abilities out there that can change votes such as vote manipulators, multi voters and no-voters so vote counts may not always be as they seem. When a person dies their role title will be revealed for all to see in the end of day write up.


NIGHT PHASES: Night Phases begin after a day phase has ended. During this time most abilities will be sent in to the moderator(s), with the Mafia usually sending in their kills while the town send in names of people they want to use their abilities on, such as investigate or protect. The night phase will end once all abilities have been sent in or when the time limit expires, at which point the mods will do a write up of the night’s activities. The write up will reveal what players have been killed any some other events that happen depending on what the mods consider important enough to be in the write ups. Whenever possible, try to get PMs into the mods as soon as possible after the start of the night phase in order to keep the game moving along at a quick pace.

Once night phase ended, a new day begins and the cycle repeats itself until win conditions have been reached. The Town generally wins when there are no threats left to them, the Mafia generally win when their numbers are equal to or greater than the remaining non-Mafia players. Remember, this is a team effort.




RULES:

- No editing whatsoever. Whether it be to correct a typo or to remove some accidentally incriminating things someone has said, no editing of posts is allowed. While mods may choose to be lenient, the standard penalty for anyone caught editing a post is a mod kill.


- Though we can’t force you to post, all mods love to see active participants in their games. We advise everyone to check in at least once a day, as games can move pretty fast and it can be easy to fall behind if you are not on regularly.


- Once you are dead, stay dead. You will not be allowed to participate in the game thread or continue to talk to people outside the thread that you could talk to before. For example, if you are part of the mafia team, you are NOT allowed to continue talking about the game to your Mafia team mates. If you are dead, you are allowed a death post, telling your peers goodbye or wishing luck to whatever allegiance you're on. The standard rule is one death post. You won't be flogged if you post once or twice more but be considerate. Some mods may choose to be severe on that one.

Talking to other dead players is also frowned upon, as they know things you don't and they may tend to spill accidentally if the wrong situation arises, which can still have an impact on the game in play. So don’t do it! Talking about your role after death or to those who have died IS NOT allowed either.


- Unless your role PM specifically states otherwise, no players are allowed to talk about their role, game plan, alignment, win condition or basically anything game related outside of the game thread. While mods can’t easily enforce this rule, any communication about the game outside of the game thread goes against the spirit of mafia games and spoils the game. Anyone caught doing this WILL be mod-killed. This is your only warning!


- All players should play to their role/alignment and play to win. While there are likely to be times that you have to do things against your best interest, any players who deliberately go against their win conditions risk being banned from future games for failing to play to their role and going against the spirit of the game. Also, this game stirs up some passionate arguments and we understand that this will happen, but if anything turns into a personal attack then it ruins the fun for everyone. Be considerate.

- When it comes to mafia games, nothing is ever as it seems. There can be things about your role that you don’t know about, other people can bluff about their abilities, people can lie, events can happen and write ups can be read in many different ways. If you have any questions about what is happening then you can get in contact with the mod via PM, and he will help you to the best of his abilities. But there are certain reasons why a mod might not answer certain questions, and should it happen, don't be alarmed. It's really meant to be discovered at the end.

- Lastly, all mods reserve the right to decide who they prefer to have play their games. While "first come, first served" has been a common policy for deciding a player base there is no requirement for a mod to adhere to this policy, especially if they feel that adding different players would result in a more enjoyable game for all involved. Naturally, the reserve list will play home to any player who wants to play the game and doesn't make the cut.
