I tend to skip through parts of role PMs that seem to just be general character background that don't have anything do with the game. When I mod a game I like writing quite long ones, I just make sure it's all based on the game and sometimes throw various hints and so on in there along with the abilities, which in cases can take an absolute age to explain

Roles don't need to be long at all but I find that I get carried away when I'm enjoying creating a game. For example: Metal Gear Solid - a lot of the roles were filled with things that were entirely pointless and superfluous but I was enjoying putting the game together, so some of them went a little crazy. Other games, that I can't be bothered to find examples for, I half-arsed writing the roles and just threw together a few sentences/couple of paragraphs.

Now in the case if actors it is a little bit easier to do research what with IMDB around, but regardless the less work one has to do for their own character, probably the better, yes?

You shouldn't hand them everything on a silver plate, but they shouldn't be completely confused as to who they are(who/what/why). If that makes sense.

Hey y'all. Got my laptop back. With work added in, I hope to finish Black Mafia by next weekend. WIll I be ready to run a game once I finish it, I don't know. That I'd have to get back on you.

Dunno if I ever did this, so just thought I'd confirm that my next game is going to be The Warriors, based on the movie/game of the same name. If The Hazard or killer iPod could add it to upcoming games it'd be swell.
