Military Intelligence

In the spirit of Halo, as this game started in Halo Social, I give you the Blood Gulch edition of Military Intelligence, modeled after Red vs. Blue.

Rules:

Each player will assigned a certain class. Classes include: Attacker, Defender, Shooter, et cetera.

Each class will have different traits that give them specific advantages and disadvantages.

Some people will have secret traits, to be unlocked at certain points in the game.

Moves are performed, usually, by positioning yourself. When you choose to advance into a square that is occupied, you select which move you want to perform; you may only occupy a square if the enemy in it is killed in the attack. Squares occupied by teammates cannot be occupied again, except by the use of Tactics. You can still perform a move (such as healing), but the player who does this will still retain his original square. The same applies for an offensive player that does not successfully kill an enemy when attempting to move into their square.

The following do not apply for Tanks attacking with shells or defending from attack or shooters attacking with their Long-Range or Point-Blank shots:
    Attacks from behind do four bars extra damage.

    Attacks from the side do two bars extra damage

    Attacks from a field to a hill do one bar less damage.

    Attacks from a field to a ditch do one bar less damage.

    Attacks from a hill to a field do one extra bar of damage.

    Attacks from a hill to a ditch do two extra bars of damage.

    Attacks from a ditch to a field do one less bar of damage.

    Attacks from a ditch to a hill do two less bars of damage.
Players in a ditch are safe from ranged attacks by Shooters and Tanks, except when Tanks are on hills.

All players start out in the base.

The leader can automatically deploy or pick up any one unit to and from the bordering edge of No-Man's Land.

Each player can use their moves once every 24-hour period.

The base can hold infinitely many units and protect them from any and all attacks, but units inside the base upon its destruction are destroyed with it.

The last team remaining wins. When a Leader dies, the team is dismantled. The surviving team members can choose to play in exile, join the team that killed their leader, or leave the game. This does not take place in a two-team battle, however.

Each person has bars of Health: ------- When you run out of these bars, you are dead. Bars are lost from being attacked. Each class has a different amount of bars.


Classes:

Attacker/Tex/Donut


Health: ------- (7)

Moves: 3 per day, Regular Attack & Special Attack
    Regular: Does three bars of damage.

    Special: Does four bars of damage, but causes attacker to receive double damage when next attacked.




Defender/Tucker/Simmons


Health: ---------------- (16)

Moves: 3 per day, Attack & Defend
    Attack: Does two bars of damage.

    Defend: Sets yourself to receive the damage of any one person until your next move. This will also put you in the same square as the player you defend.




Shooter/Caboose/Griff


Health: ----------- (11)

Moves: 3 per day, Long-Range Shot & Point Blank
    Longe-Range Shot: Hit one player from as far as four squares and inflict two bars of damage each.

    Point Blank: Inflicts four bars of damage but leaves the shooter vulnerable for double damage from the attacked player. This is only used when a Shooter moves into an enemy square.




Tank/Sheila/Warthog


Health: ------------------------ (24)

Moves: 1 per day, Aim & Fire
    Aim: Select a target.

    Fire: Hit a target and inflict six bars of damage. Each tank starts out with five shells to fire. If a Defender is protecting the target, the damage is split evenly between them.




Medic-Engineer/Doc/Lopez


Health: --------- (9)

Moves: 1 per day, Weak Attack, Heal & Tweak
    Weak Attack: Does one bar of damage.

    Heal: Give a player three additional bars of health.

    Tweak: Give a tank three bars of health or give it two extra shells.




Leader/Church/Sarge


Health: ----- (5)
Leaders control a helicopter that can deploy or pick up one teammate to or from No-Man's Land to their territory. This includes the base. The Leader can move, but he cannot do anything significant on the battlefield. It is recommended that he stay in the base.

1 Move

3 Tactics per day & 1 Order [ul]Tactics: Tactics are special moves done only by leaders that affect troops. The following is a list of all tactics. Each one employed counts as a move for the Leader only.

  • Defender Swap - A Defender that is protecting a particular player can be swapped with another Defender. Requires two Defenders in adjacent squares.
  • Drive-by - A Shooter hops on a Tank an unloads on all enemy players in adjacent squares for a distance of three straight squares, giving them each a bar of damage. If a Defender is protecting a targeted player, then the Defender is hit twice. Requires a Shooter and a Tank in adjacent squares. This tactic will keep them in the same square until their next move.
  • Back-to-back - Two Attackers are paired together and will ward off any attack on the opposite Attacker, except for those done by Shooters and Tanks. In warding off these attacks, they counterattack and inflict one bar or damage. The formation is broken when one of the Attackers makes their next move. Requires 2 Attackers in adjacent squares. This tactic will keep them in the same square until their next move.
  • Cannon Ball - A Tank launches a Defender at an enemy, inflicting six bars of damage to the target and five to the launched Defender. Requires a Defender and a Tank in adjacent squares. The Defender can be launched as far as two or three squares away, no more, no less.
  • Ambush - Three Attackers all attack a Tank and Inflict ten bars of damage. One Attacker will randomly lose three bars of health, however. Requires 3 Attackers in squares surrounding a Tank.
  • Ram - Send a Tank with one bar of health left crashing into an enemy tank, inflicting five bars of damage to it. A Defender defending it receives equal damage in addition to the Tank's damage. The target must be within two feet of the attacking Tank.
  • Merry-go-round - Use your Tank to spin and throw a player from your territory into No-Man's Land.


    The last bits:

    All players can move either north, east, south, or west. When making a movement, indicate how many squares you move and in which direction.

    Tanks can aim for squares either two units away from them or one square diagonally from them. However, a tank cannot move squares and aim at the same time. Shooters have an identical range.

    All bases have forty bars of health. The base can only only be attacked by Attackers, Medic-Engineers, and Defenders that are positioned in Line 3, at the square that connects to the base. Shooters and Tanks can still utilize their range.

    When deploying a teammate from their territory to No-Man's Land, they can only land the player on the square touching the border. Crossing the border uses up all moves, regardless of how many you have. To cross the border, simply have yourself positioned in the square next to it and move across.

    Arrows will indicate the direction a player is facing (^, <, >, v).

    I would like to see randomly assigned roles, so the distribution is more even.
    Also, if all actions were PMed to you instead of posted in the thread it would be nice, that way the phases would have more relevance.

    How can the base be destroyed, and what is the point of the lines?

    This is actually looks really fun if people stay active, plus I love tactcs games like the FFT series so I'll join when it's ready.

    If it worked before in a gaming forum I don't see why it wouldn't work here.

    This one seems a little off. Doesn't requiring exactly one bar of health be left in order to use it mean you could easily never got the option to do so, as the opponents could easily co-ordinate their attacks to avoid leaving you with exactly that number (not even sure why you'd need your health to be low, but w/e)? And wouldn't ramming into the target cause damage to the user?

    Disregard that last part if this is a kamikaze maneuver, but the exactly-one-health thing still strikes me as unwieldy.

    The bases will have their own set of health too, but I'm not yet ready to post that.

    The Lines are basically just lines of defense. They are squares to be occupied, like any other, but since they are within the territory of the base, they have no special attributes like a hill or field. It also gives some players a holding space until they can advance into No Man's Land.

    @Viper: Yes, it is used in the sense of kamikaze, and it's something that can be done without detracting from a Tank's moves.

    Also, keep in mind that I'm open to new, innovative Tactics to be used, especially from veteran players.

    If you guys want to go ahead and organize into teams, then you can. Pick either Red or Blue.
