Character sexual preferences

I'd like to point out that i'm totally serious here and keeping with that
i'd rather keep random fanfics, fanart and yaoi or yuri fantasies out of
this discussion and I also wish to avoid anyone trying to insult a character
or anything, EG you not liking Tifa doesnt make her a lesbian and vice
versa. now ff7 handles lots of mature topics like crooked governments, mass
murders, mafia enemies [turks]. homosexuality is one of those topics and is
shown through missions involveing crossdressing and through characters like
mukki and dio.
onto the actual topic: I was wondering about what characters might be gay in
the final fantasy 7 world. it surprised me there was nothing in particular
about some characters sexuality since the game covered about every other
base of the characters personalities and pasts.
yes I do know im overthinking things in here.
I dont think any main characters in the game are portrayed as being
homosexual though niether does it show that they are all straight. it's
obvious this thread is all about opinion here except for the characters who
were in a actual relationship. Perhaps the reason the characters who weren't
given any examples for us to go off of, is for the audience to judge for
themselves. I agree that its better that nothing is officially said about
any character relationships. i think part of the fun after a game is playing
with the characters further.
Its hard to tell with some characters. What does everybody think?

Well, let's have a look at this.

Most of the main characters are straight (or bi, at most), which is statistically probable. Cloud, Vincent, Tifa and Aeris have all expressed interest in the opposite sex. Barret was married (although that doesn't always mean anything ). I don't remember the others saying or doing something that would tell us anything about their sexuality, although questions may be raised about Cid's relationship with Shera. I think that there is potential for romance there, although Cid would never admit it
