	Log in to remove this sponsored message Could FF6 fit on a PSP disc if it had Crisis Core graphics? AFAIK, CC nearly filled the UMD disc (it's only 1.8 GB, nowhere near as big as a DVD), and FF6 is a much bigger game. I think that, if it's remade for a portable device, they should make it look a bit more like the DS version of FF3 and sacrifice a little quality for the FMVs. (obvious) Make Sephiroth stronger. 2. Make KotR weaker. 3. Make Sephiroth (and maybe some other bosses) stronger when the player has KotR. Enemies can look for global variables and adjust themselves accordingly (Sephiroth himself gets stronger when characters are at lv 99 and when KotR is cast on Jenova). Perhaps Sephiroth could be given an HP boost of, say, 200 000 when the player has KotR. I'm using a hardcore mod that does the first two. Sephiroth is much stronger (stronger than Emerald weapon is in the normal game) and KotR is weaker and risky. It has a chance of making the enemy invincible, so it can really backfire (especially when spammed). Edit: Jan 08, 09

	I've never heard of any, but I don't use my PSP much and therefore am not really abreast of all the goings-on. Anyway, I think that now the PS3 is out with 30GB blue-ray discs, we aren't going to see any more multi disc games (were there even any PS2 games that required more than one disc for the main game? I don't remember any).

As a FF7 fan, I actually enjoyed CC and what it brought. It answered alot of questions I had after playing FF7.} As far a I can see there are at least two good reasons to keep Genesis out of that scene. 1. The scene is less dramatic with Genesis; it worked better for me when it was a discovery that Sephiroth made on his own, and I think that the appearance of Genesis somewhat undermined both the role and the uniqueness of Sephiroth. 2. If there is a FF7 remake (that's a big "if"), it should follow the story and atmosphere of the original exactly, rather than make it fit with the Compilation. Most people I have seen have shown concern that Squeenix would "fiddle" with the story and would prefer that part of the game to be left alone completely (with the exception of some changes to fix the problems made by the bad translation). After all, the story ain't broke... I have certainly felt that a lot of the new characters and storylines that have been added to the FF7 universe by Squeenix with AC, CC and DoC have taken away more than they have added. There seem to be far too many villains and agenda now; the old FF7 storyline easily had enough complexity, with Shinra, Hojo, Sephiroth and Jenova all playing their own parts. I think that FF7 is now having a problem that exists in a lot of film sequels: with each new game that comes out, new characters need to be added (I mean, Sephiroth can't always be the bad guy), but by doing this the universe is over-saturated with bad guys and the original, who was built up as being unique, seems less special every time (not to mention that it's strange that not only Cloud but also everyone in Shinra, even Hojo, seem to have the actions of Genesis and Hollander wiped from their memories). I know that CC did use Genesis as the main villain (I think the story would have worked much better had he been killed sooner, leaving Sephiroth and then Shinra had been the main villains), that there's nothing anyone can do about it now, and that some people accept the changes made by CC as cannon, but I'll still be disappointed (but not surprised) if I see Genesis pop up in a FF7 remake. 	Well, my main argument against Genesis is that he rather cheapens Sephiroth's role (especially as the similarities between Genesis and Hollander and Sephiroth and Hojo are so striking). He certainly didn't add anything to the overall FF7 storyline for me, and I still don't see why he needed to be the main villain for the whole of CC either. Apart from anything else, it's very common for the main villain at the start of a FF game to be taken out of the equation at some point: Gestahl, President Shinra, Deling, Queen Brahne, and so on. I think that by killing Genesis off there would also be a sense that Sephiroth was a step up from him, as in: OK, Genesis is dead, now's the time for the real bad guy! I never really had much of a problem with the original FF7 storyline (maybe I'm in a minority ) and I think that the old storyline of Sephiroth goes mad and then Zack and Cloud are chased by Shinra would have been more than adequate for the last few chapters. Sticking Genesis and co. in there meant that there were too many cooks making the broth (not to mention the fact that they were being chased: a chase should be a mad rush!). It was, of course, necessary to have a new character as a villain when Sephiroth and Shinra were on the player's side, but when they weren't he really wasn't needed. Well, IMO most of the CC storyline would have worked much better if it were part of a completely new game rather than added to FF7. And as for keeping Genesis out of a remake, I hope you're right, but something tells me that won't happen, if for no other reason that his storyline adds so much to the FF7 world (not only by his actions, but also with the new "rules": degradation? Copies?). In fact, I have a feeling that he'll be ruining far more scenes: based on what they did with him in CC, I wouldn't be surprised if he turned up during a certain scene in the City of the Ancients, perhaps even doing the deed Edit: Jan 11, 09 -------------------

	Yeah, that's one of the biggest problems when making sequels and prequels. It's hard to make a new story and characters for the game/film/whatever without messing up the storyline of the original. I don't think that Squeenix have found that balance yet. -------------------

	Of course, Crisis Core needed a villain before Sephiroth and Shinra, but it did not need a super-dooper Apocalypse causing villain or a mad scientist who creates them. It needed the kind of villain that gets overshadowed later on by the real bad guy. If the war with Wutai had lasted longer, then perhaps Crisis Core could have worked without Hollander, without Project G and without giving Genesis superhuman powers (well, any more than your average SOLDIER 1st). I certainly don't see any need for him once the Nibelheim chapter starts. Remember, even after Sephiroth dies there is still Hojo and the Shinra army. And of course Cloud's knowledge of what happened didn't have to be taken as gospel, but it didn't need to be wrong either. They didn't need to change things just because they could. And when I say that most of the CC storyline¹ would have worked better as a new game, I meant that there was too much innovation for a quel (is there a word that covers both sequels and prequels?). As I said in another post, when making quels there has to be a balance between new ideas and characters on the one hand and faithfulness to the original on the other. I felt that Squeenix didn't get that balance right. ¹By "most of the CC storyline", I mean the supernatural powers of Genesis and Angeal that go beyond what Cloud said SOLDIER 1sts had in the original game, along with Hollander and the "gift of the goddess" angle. -------------------

	What do you mean by "battle system"? If you are talking about making it like FF12, then NEIN! We will not allow this! Anyway I think that the only thing that could improve that part of the gameplay is making the encounter system more like that of Chrono Trigger (brilliant game, better than all the FFs except 7 IMO). Sometimes random encounters can be a real pain... -------------------

	Well, I actually had an idea once that I was thinking about putting into the game, but it was way beyond my modding ability (or anyone's AFAIK). How about a skill/tech system that allows different characters to use different attacks, that they learn after killing a certain amount of enemies (without materia, just as they learn new limit breaks)? It might create a balance that most FF games have lacked between the job system and the rather samey characters of games like 7 & 8. Perhaps they could also allow more than six enemies in a fight and/or more than three different kinds of enemy. Obviously the PS3 would have no trouble with that. And there's something that can be done very easily (I've modded my game this way): make the weapons more unique. Instead of buying a new weapon with slightly higher att. than the last one and an extra materia slot, there can be a trade-off between att. and materia slots, or between accuracy and a high critical rate (I think that some weapons are more likely to do critical hits than others - the mechanic for that exists). Same goes for armour. Weapons can be made to cause status changes as well, and attack all enemies. Barret's machine guns are good for the last one; the attack can be made to work like magic+all (i.e. switch between all targets an one target and do 2/3 damage when attacking all). In fact, there is even a mechanic in the original game (although it's never used) that allows weapons to attack an opponent's MP, ignore defence and do all sorts of other crazy things. Finally, they have to do something IMO about some of the overpowered attacks; physical attacks become far too powerful at high levels (who's going to bother casting ultima when slash-all does more damage and doesn't cost MP?). KOTR needs to be weakened in some way, and something also has to be done about the lv.4 limit breaks (perhaps making it take longer to fill the limit bar). Make those changes as well as the change to the encounter system to a Chrono-Trigger style one and we'd have the perfect battle system. -------------------

There were too many cooks, and the broth was spoilt. Explain to me why Cloud's memory being unreliable justifies massive changes. To me, it seems that making big changes and saying that Cloud's memory is unreliable and that no-one else would have mentioned anything is like making an episode of a TV program that messes up the continuity and revealing in the next episode that it was all a dream. If the backstory given in the original had been weak or confusing I'd be able to see your point, but it wasn't. And if it ain't broke... -------------------

I wouldn't want weapons to break, but I would like to see more variety; it'd be more interesting and add more strategy, not to mention that there would be a reason to keep using the Buster Sword throughout the whole game. I've made mine ignore defence so it effectively becomes more powerful as the game goes on (since enemies get higher defence, the difference becomes more noticeable). It also has a high critical hit rate but a high miss rate (since it must be heavy). And making characters do more damage to certain kinds of enemy after killing a lot if them shouldn't be too hard for Squeenix to do... -------------------

	I have the PSX remake. AFAIK it was a straight port of the SNES version. quote Kakarot0123 I liked that idea though.. Adding to the weapons to make unique combos and it would allow the same weapons to stay in the game and not have to add any.. Like imagine flamming nail bat.. thunder nail bat.. Awesome idea of mine. it's probably been suggested a 100 times before but still. Like what happens when you use elemental materia? I've added paralyse to my Nail Bat (and renamed it Mjöllnir ftw, I'll make it look like a hammer when I can edit models). Since it's that kind of weapon, I thought it should be able to knock enemies out. -------------------

	What I mean is that you could have weapons level up a certain number of times, just like materia (although personally wouldn't want to have this). The player would still have to use different weapons for different fighting styles, for example, brute strength, or mage. I have a modder's disease Whenever I hear something like this, I immediately think of how it would be put into the game -------------------
