It is certainly open to interpretation, but I personally don't believe that the residents of Corel truly blame Barret for the incident. 	I think Marlene's mother's name is Eleanor if I remember correctly... Barret is a trip. I thought he was a lil unruly, but I also consider him a typical parent wanting the best for his daughter. Being a mom, I would act the same way and try to protect the planet for mine.

	Barrets alright. I've never really used him much as a player (more a cloud/Red/Cid/Vincent/Yuffie person). But in terms of the storyline i think he's got the whole tough guy image because he feels he needs to be strong for the others. He's an only parent - to a young white girl? - and this makes him protective. He's the leader of AVALANCHE because he cares about the world (and hates Shinra) and when we start the game he's tying everything together (he organises everything and pays Clouds wages). He's honest and mentally tough despite his hard background and all-in-all he doesn't complain much (so long as you don't ask him to climb stairs) a 'can do' attitude I'd say. And when it comes to Dyne he's happy and willing to forgive someone for trying to kill him and his daughter. Good bloke I'd say, and deeper than most people give him credit for.

	Man, F that noise. Barret was friggin awesome! He reminded me a lot of myself. Very egotistical and a loud mouth. He was sarcastic to everyone around him, but cared about his friends/family very much so. As a character, I used him quite frequently. Seriously, who doesn't like a dude with a gun as a freakin arm!? -------------------
