She locked herslef away because she felt she had sinned. She couldn't die, and she knew the reason to that.

She didn't know about the reunion, but I believe that being locked away as she is, I think she wouldn't be able to escape to go to the reunion when the calling would have come.

Once again theres nothing wrong with that, and you forget that Hojo WAS the father of the child, theres nothing with a father helping in the delivery of a baby. And how do we know that she didn't go to a doctor?

Getting back to the topic of Lucrecia, I don't think she really knew about JENOVA cells to put herself in the stasis type place in order to stop the reunion. I'm sure she did it just because she was afraid of what would happen to Sephiroth, although not sure about that.

Well think about it Rue, she was OK enough to do the deed with Hojo. After sleeping with him having him deliver for you would be comparatively easy I imagine .

Besides, it's not like Lucrecia knew what Hojo was like prior to Vincent being shot. He was shot after she'd given birth.

Hmmm - Is that an official time line? I have always thought that Vincent was shot while Lucrecia was pregnant.

Hojo shot Vincent when he confronted him about something, and I'm almost certain that something was to do with Lucrecia, which narrows it down to impregnation or more likely, the Jenova cells.

As far as I knew, it went that Lucrecia chose Hojo over Vincent (because she is a tool), she became pregnant, or becoming pregnant by Hojo was a catalyst for choosing Hojo.... she allows Hojo to inject her with J-cells, and when Vincent learns of this, he confronts Hojo.

It was like insult to injury... she chose Hojo, was pregnant by him, and then on top of it allows her body (and unborn child) to become a living experiment, and Vincent flipped, confront Hojo, resulting in being shot.

For some reason I never thought the shooting came AFTER Sephiroth's birth.

Minor DoC spoilers -

Well, after Vincent is shot, he spends an undetermined time in that tank. At one point while he's in it Lucy is screaming at Hojo to "give me back my baby!", kind of thing. But then again, he could have been in there for months, for all I know.

On a different note, is it just me or is the gun Hojo shoots Vince with both extremely large and extremely obvious? In FFVII he pulled it out of his coat but in DOC he's standing there with a piece a couple inches shy of Azul's while Vince blindly abuses him .

I share Daisy's idea of what happened. Lucrecia does the nasty with Hojo, Hojo injects the Jenova junk, and Vincent gets pissed and decides to step up to Hojo. Hojo guns him down!

The shooting definitely game before the birth. I'm sure of it.

I kinda find some of the flashbacks confusing! Like the one ye were talking about there. Vincent being shot and also one of the final flashbacks where Lucrecia shout's

I didn't like that scene at all. In FFVII Lucrecia said that she never got to see her son, and all she wanted to do was hold him. If I remember correctly she died a while after giving birth, no? (Perhaps not straight after giving birth, but a few hours/days later).

That's the impression I got anyways.

But after giving birth she's walking around fine? In the ShinRa Mansion basement? Screaming for her son?

I always got the impression that she died in the hospital bed.
Just the way she spoke in FFVII made it seem like she died while still in hospital, after having Sephiroth taken away from her.

I think I get what you're saying. I haven't palyed FFVII in a good few months so I can' really remember Lucrecia's scenes. But it would be strange if she was still working around Hojo after he took her son from her..

Not neccessarily working around him. But, I dunno, (maybe I'm just being weird), the entire scene was completely different to what I imagined.
It seemed to only be there to show us what happened - and the only way they could do that was to show it from Vincent's point of view - which means it would have to take place in the Mansion's basement (since Vincent wouldn't have seen Lucrecia giving birth, screaming out for her child, then dying ... if she was in hospital the whole time).

Mind you, I wasn't too happy with Vincent being in the giant tube either. It would have been so much crueler for Hojo to have left him strapped to a table while he does god-knows-what to Vincent's body.
The tube seemed almost .... kind.

It sort of messed up the timeline, really. Did Vincent end up in the coffin before or after Sephiroth was born? I always thought it was before. This means she had a traumatic birth, had her son taken, went back to 'work', THEN died from Make poisoning (?)/knew she was dying so had herself put in the crystal (?).... and then who put Vincent in the coffin? Didn't he 'self exile' himself there for penance.... there is no cut scene of him dragging himself into the coffin... who was the last to see him? Hojo? Lucrecia? Although he knew Sephiroth's name right? Or did he not recall it, but knew Hojo's name... I forget... it's been a few years since I played 7.... I suppose he wouldn't have known the name if he hadn't heard it somewhere before, meaning he would have gone into the coffin AFTER the birth, but I thought he went into the coffin because he knew (thought) she was dead?
