i think seymour and sephiroth are quite the same
for me, seymour is based on sephiroth
they both want to become one with the planet/spira
sephiroth with the help of the lifestream
seymour with the help of sin
they have a bit the same characters and opinions about the life on planet/spira

Sorta. Sephiroth is very "self concerned", while Seymour cares about Yuna and some other people. But for the main part, I believe you could be right, but Sephiroth is a hellova lot weaker in a sense.

Ummm... No, Seymour doesn't want to become one with Spira. He wants to kill everything on it to rid it of pain and suffering. Sephiroth is interested in becoming a GOD.

Agree with Pontifex. Seymour thinks in order to stop the circle of destruction, he must cleanse the world and kill everything. A total genocide of everything.
