Chocobo breeding bug?

Hi I'm playing FF7 on a PS2 (not sure if the PS2 has anything to do with it but I figured i'd mention it). I've captured a number of Chocobo including the good and wonderful chocobo's that I need to begin breeding-- and I've got them in the fence (happily wandering).

The next step is to talk to Chocobo Billy and have him move them to the stables. So I talk to Chocobo Billy and I select 'moving chocobos' and it says "Select the chocobo with the directional pad up down and select using the O button"

So I select the chocobo I want, and I hit O and ... then nothing it just returns to back to the game and theres no chocobo there. Apparently its supposed to ask me to name it but its not doing anything its just resetting back to before I first talked to him... and if I go to move them again the chocobo I chose is still outside.

So I figure fine maybe its not the O button, so I try everything, every button I can and none of them work This is pretty frustrating because a.) Its dumb, and b.) I know its supposed to work!! I can't figure out a reason why its messing up on me... and no its not the obvious stuff (ie wrong button).. any ideas? Anybody heard of any bugs like this?

yah all I'm trying to do is move them! Thats it! Move them from the fence to the stables, I get to the point where I can select the chocobo and I hit the button and ...

I read the post by another guy in the bug forum saying that since he changed around the controls to match FFX that he was having all sorts of problems

Well this is another one-- my girlfriend changed it to FFX to where O is deselect.. apparently FFX doesn't like that.

Not exactly a bug... Just change you control settings back to defult and you'll be good to go.
