well i decided to replay ff7 its been like 13yrs. this time i decided to get everything in the game.
already i missed the umbrella, and the trine skill on my 4th enemy skill materia. i am on disc 2
i found out you should always follow absolutesteves guide if you need help. this time i decided to get the gold chocobo so i could get all the super powered materia that it allows. wow what a pain i can see why i avoided this the first time around.
anyways what happened was this. i googled how to get a gold chocobo and some page came up where it said i could use a good and great chocobo, or 2 great chocobos. i chose to use 2 great chocobos and that was the start of my chocobo nightmare.
many sites on the internet say to race them to class s before breeding which could take you the rest of your life. anyways i did not do that but what i found out from mating two great chocobos is this. the first time i did it, it somehow came up with a blue female. then i tried it like 11 more times and every time it came up as a green female.
so days later after i am over my frustration for the game i go and do it the right way which means getting a good chocobo of both genders and a great chocobo of both genders and mating them. getting the good chocobos is a TOTAL pain in the ass btw. and what i found out was this. one of the mating combinations produces a green male, and one produces a blue female. and this is the only way you can mate them to get a black chocobo. if you think about it the 2 great chocobos mating will only produce a female most if not always green but regardless, you can never get a blue male chocobo to my knowledge, from regular chocobos at least. that coupled with the fact you only have 6 stables will make it impossible for you to ever get a black chocobo any other way but what is described by absoulutesteve.
i can only imagine the japanese programmers laughing their asses off about how many ppl will be tricked by this...
finally got the gold chocobo and got the materia, which kind of ruins any remaining challenge in the game honestly. well at least they made it hard to get i'll give them that much.
i kind of have mixed reactions to this game now, i loved it until disc 2 when the story just gets wierd and i start to not like it. there is way too many dumb cutscenes where i just hammer on the O button to get thru it as fast as possible but even then its still annoying and LONG. then there is the music which is great for the most part but there are some exceptions i cannot stand the gold saucer music, or the chocobo music for instance. its really annoying because you need to spend all this time at gold saucer to get the powerful items yet the music will drive you insane. its a big big reason i totally avoided the saucer and chocobos my first time thru. then the other music, its good for the most part but repetitive because alot of it gets overused...
one major gripe about this game, I absolutely HATE in battle how the command list covers your players HP and MP so you cannot even tell if or who needs healing.after you have selected the healing spell.... is it just me...
another thing i also do not like how many powerful items you can only get at one time and then you can never go back there and they are lost forever.... i would prefer not to use a walkthru at all but this type of thing makes it necessary
one thing that bothers
i cant figure out how to get 5000 pts on the shooting coaster at the saucer. i watched a youtube vid on how to do this, the guy shoots the zeppelin propeller at the start of the ride. however in my game for some reason the zeppelin is at the end of the ride. i tried to shoot the propeller a few time but either it cant be hit or i missed. plus... the coaster ride just goes way too fast.... guess i will have to miss those items, which annoys me because i want cid's spear.
