i installed ff7 on my laptop, the specs are
core2 duo
2gb ram
geforce go 7300

but after it plays the intro cut scene the screen just goes blank. i've installed the 1.4 patch but it still doesn't work. tried it in software mode as well as direct3d but makes no difference. anyone know if this problem can be fixed or am i doomed to play ff7 with the graphics card compatibility problem? so far keeping busy by playing ff8 on software mode.

You should remember that this game was never design to support VGA cards like that used by high-tech PC today.

You may want to change the setting from your own graphic card to Hardware Accelerator type (built-in VGA card on the motherboard). It may work.

yeh i know that but the laptop only has one graphic card. tried running it under a virtual machine with xp as the guest, it seems to run okay, i think its emulating an s3 something graphics card. bit slow and crappy music as no yamaha soft synthesizer but it'll have to do for now. its a bit gay having to run windows xp inside windows xp. if anyone knows any way of solving this issue please let me know. running it in software mode will be good enough for me.

If you haven't tried installing any patches yet, then you can try this one that I found doing a quick search of Google. I'm not sure if that will fix your problem (since I've never played the PC version), but hey, it's worth a shot.
