	Log in to remove this advertisement I sent a couple of PMs to Wolfwood a while ago, but I suspect he was busy as I never received a reply, so I'll ask here. What is Neoseeker's policy on game profiles for re-releases of the same game? For example: The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - Game of the Year is not itself a game, but is merely a patched version of Morrowind and it's two expansions, Tribunal and Bloodmoon, sold as one package. Should the GOTY edition have its own profile, should it be added as an 'Alternate Title' for Morrowind, or should GOTY not be mentioned at all? Unreal Tournament 3 has a profile, but combined with the latest patch and the Titan bonus content, it was named "UT3: Black Edition". The Black Edition is the only version available from Steam, hence why Neo's Stream profile is called Black Edition and is unable to link with the main profile. Performing a NeoSeek search for Black Edition yields no results. How should this title be added to Neoseeker's database? The Witcher, after being heavily patched and given some bonus content, was re-released as The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, but technically it's the same game (see here for details). Should the Enhanced Edition have its own profile? I'm sure there are other examples, but it all boils down to the same question. How should re-releases of "the same game" be handled? 	GOTY releases are officially recognised as standalone independent releases. These kinds of "base game + expansions compilation" releases are treated as separate entities for the purposes of Neoseeker profiles. Same kind of deal with The Witcher games. All the content and tweaks might be available to owners of the original game, but the EE version was released for retail as well. I'm somewhat less sure about UT3. It seems like Steam is the only retailer place where the game is outright called Black on the purchase screen. If the name change is caused by downloading the extra content and Steam is the only place that calls it Black to start with then I would likely opt for an alternate title in that case as it doesn't seem to be an independent release. But then this is not helped by other games sites insisting on having them as separate profiles. Maybe Intoxication wants to throw in an opinion or two as well, especially in regards to UT3. ------------------- Fire Emblem Awakening - You Want It.

	So each Neo profile is intended to act as a separate retail release then? I can somewhat understand that, although it has a few downsides when it comes to dividing the community. For example, there are many threads in the Witcher forum whereas the EE forum is dead, yet I'll bet everyone in the main forum is playing EE. Morrowind is a mixed bag, with GOTY PC (dead), GOTY 360 (low activity) regular PC (very quiet), regular 360 (low activity) and the expansion forums, but this is a larger problem with the forums structure itself which I believe is being discussed atm. Additionally, I wonder how many of those who say they own The Witcher actually own EE (which is the case for me)? As for UT3, I don't believe it was ever released as Black to retail outlets, but you can download the latest patch and Titan bonus pack for free and it will be renamed to Black after one of those. Since Steam always sells the most up-to-date version they've decided to call it Black, but otherwise it appears to be an arbitrary re-naming by the developers. Direct2Drive still sell it as UT3.

Yeah we tend to have this problem for a few releases. Pokemon suffers this as well, where with each paired release one forum becomes the main active one and the other sits more quiet and gets much fewer responses. There isn't much to be done about it unless we get the ability to merge same platform forums or this forum overhaul comes through. It would be rather inaccurate to have a profile refer to two different retail releases though, especially when media sites publish different reviews for the different versions. ------------------- Fire Emblem Awakening - You Want It.

	Hmm, perhaps the logical next step forward would be to only have one profile per game, but have a submission type where you can contribute all of the different editions it has (eg. 	Bumping this for relevancy. There is a game (currently in Beta) that has a profile for iPhone, but it's also a PC (Windows), Mac, and Android game. It would have been nice if the Contribute (Profile Info) option would have allowed the submission of additional devices without having to make a whole new profile.
