Notebook buying tips please |
|
Hi. I'm looking for a laptop for general usage, some school, and most likely alot of gaming. If i can't get all those qualities in my budget then i'd like the gaming one but whatever. I need it to have a fast processor, 120+ disk space, and whatever stuff you guys recommend. Anyway my budget is about 600-700 dollars. I looked at a bunch of Dells on the outlet stuff cause i really don't want to put my own together. But if there are any other brands out there that can run Windows XP and Vista (for the purpose of saying i have it

Well for your budget you are not going to get a gaming machine. Just so you understand go to places like dell, vigor, and/or google and type in gaming laptops and price one out for yourself.
You will probably find that the price is going to be double what you want to spend. For your budget you can get a computer for school but thats about it. Specs for a gaming machine are as follows....C2D 2.2, 2GB DDR2, at least a 8800GTS, what ever harddrive as long as it's a SATA drive...those are the basics. My suggestion is if you can hold off until the holiday season do it, prices will drop and new products will be out.

Yeah, your budget is too small for a gaming laptop. I would recommend looking at places that offer discounts for education. I'm pretty sure every major computer brand has some sort of educational discount (although you'll have to search for the page with the discounts), but it probably won't cover gaming laptops.

What about a laptop for say £500/£600 ($1000-$1200)
Doesn't need to be a gaming laptop, just light but durable. Wireless internet, decent HD size, fast processor and a decent RAM. Any ideas? ------------------- ![]()

quoteWhat about one of these Asus Eee PC, i know they dont have a great hard drive but you could buy a portable one. It has a fast processor and comes wih a standard 512mb ram stick which you could replace anyways with say a 2gb one for like 100 pound. The laptop is out this friday for 200 pounds. ------------------- ![]() ![]()

Well you get what you pay for, when it comes to computers (mostly anything for that matter). I personally never got dragged into these "gaming computers". If you have good specs on your computer you can play games with it. The dual core processors are the new thing now, and I haven't tried them out, but many people say they are much better.
