Have you ever defeated him when he invades your house in kyaro and arrests you? I once watched a viedo on youtube that he was defeated but you still get caught.

I think the best way to do this is have nanami equip a clay guardian scroll and use it on Riou(hero). Then stock Riou up with 6 medicine and some magic scrolls. By some i mean Plenty of scrolls.

Yeah, it doesn't change anything. More guards show, and you get captured anyway.

Power levelling on the pass is a way to do it, especially while looking for Double Beat runes and etc.

yes, as torebaa said, you get captured anyway, but rowd does commend your effort (its nice to see him suffer just a lil =) )

i spent hours levelling up my characters (don't forget to get mukumuku which is found by checking the big tree behind your house in kyaro, three times - although he still dies easily). you can also buy some special items from the accessible villages (eg toto, ryube etc) and pick up some rare items from enemies which are valuable for the fight.

to say the truth i cant remember which items were the ones i used, but i recall using a thunderbolt magic scroll which had 3 or 6 uses in one item slot, and bought some decent boots from the kyaro item or weapon shop's rare section.

a few walkthroughs and guides will give you a good idea, i didn't reach the level suggested by one walkthrough but i managed to do it. btw it took me about 4 continuous hours to kill him (yes, just the battle with rowd).
