Now that StarCraft 2 is out, I wonder if anyone remembers this game. I found the forum, and was surprised to see it actually
existed. So, I would like to remember the days of when I was a child, playing this without any actual goal, just sending Terran Marines to their inevitable doom.
I recently booted up StarCraft 64 and played a quick little scenario match. Of course, because I was a kid and didn't understand anything, this is like the first time of playing for me. The only thing I remembered was the opening scene, and the title screen. So, I began a scenario match, Me as Protoss and the AI as Zerg. I began to build some basic buildings, when suddenly Protoss Technology came flooding back to me. I remembered the freakin' color scheme of their buildings from my childhood days. The color scheme! So, I built up some Probes and Zealots, and moved out. I discovered minerals and vespine gas, so decided to place down the necessary buildings to utilize theses resources. Suddenly, I moved back to my home-base, only to discover an ambush at where I just left. I go to check, hopeful that my team can take on the mindless Zerg, when I count their numbers. My team of six, yes, six, was outnumbered by fifteen. Not good. We were instantly wiped out, and that's when I quit.
Then, I began to play a campaign mission from the Terran Capaign: Wasteland. My objectives were, as I believe, I'm not sure I remember, to find that Jim Reynor guy, and eliminate the alien infestation. So, as I began, I was overcome with that nostalgic feeling. I couldn't play anymore. I saved and quit, and was happy that I remembered everything. I just looked at StarCraft II afterwards and was like, "Wow, what a difference."
So yeah, that was my experience. Feel free to post any nostalgic experiences you've had with StarCraft 64 in the recent days.
