Bariaus Hill Dragon mega-battle...

I don't think you'll be able to reproduce that fight to the finer details. But you might be able to get something similair. Most monster VS party battles are quite random regarding monster setup. It does sound like a nice battle though. Maybe if you keep visiting Bariaus Hill you might get a battle similair to what you had.

Are you sure you have to approach from the South? You're the expert, but I am almost 100% positive that I was coming from the North (From Goltana on my way to Goug) I am in the process of getting the dragon Reis into human form, so I can go back and try to recruit some of those dragons, and just wanted to make sure I do the right thing to try to get the rare battle to happen again.

If you have a gameshark, you can see that the "random battles" are not in fact random. They are all recorded as a number between 000-999, and you can access them through the world debug mode. Direction has nothing to do with whether or not the battle shows up. All you have to do is go to the appropriate map (in your case, barius hill). I have found that a lot of challenging and fun battles occur at Poeskas Lake. Hope that helps!
