Underrated Characters << Contains Spoiler >>

First off, I always hear from people about how much certain characters are "useless" and "pointless"... umm, no... every character in this game can kick some serious ass if used well.

Reis

Believe it or not, my best friend once told me that REIS was pointless, and a waste of time to get!!! Well, let`s see, she`s my favorite character for a reason, you know

First of all, her growth rate is downright ludicrous. Unlike every other character in the game, you don`t need to change classes a million times to get her some good stats when leveling up/down. Just go down as a Dancer, and up as a Dragoner. But aside from leveling up/down, she has some amazing benefits. First off, there are her bracelet abilities. She has all three, and an added fourth. To get these anywhere else, you would need multiple dragons to do it, and who has that kind of space these days??? Ice, Fire, and Thunder can exploit many, many weaknesses of enemies. If the enemies are bunched up, throw a Holy Bracelet at them. Sure, it`s unpredictable and downright nefarious, but when the enemies are out of range and she has nothing to do, it`s a cool attempt to get some jp without having to hit one of your own party members. Not only that, but it looks damn cool as well. Furthermore, if there is a dragon in your party, namely anything from the Dragon or Hydra series, then she becomes your best friend. Dragon Tame in itself has a 100% hit rate, meaning that if you`re in what seems to be an impossible battle, it can be a cheap lifesaver. While in your party, Dragon Care, Dragon Powerup, and Dragon Level Up are second to none in Monster Support abilities. Not only can you easily replace lost HP, but you can also raise your pet`s CT to 100!! Your dragon get his turn, then Reis is next?? no problem! Just use Dragon Level Up, and BOOM, you`re ready to go again Also, remember Ramza`s scream ability?? Dragon powerup is exactly like that, only it raises every stat by two, while only giving a 5 point brave increase. Think that`s all?? Umm, hell no! Her INNATE abilities are Monster Skill, Monster Talk, Train, and Two Swords!! Basically, you now have a character than can give any monster secret abilities, whack any enemy twice, has the ability to talk to monsters, and can train enemies if she whacks them into critical! As if that weren`t enough, did I mention that she can equip the Ribbon and the Chantage?? Hmm, an invincible Reis surrounded by 3 Tiamats and a Dark Behemoth sounds pretty fun to me I did it just last night. Sit back, let the enemies damage the dark behemoth, blast them with Ulmaguest, and then finish them all of with Triple Flame, Triple Thunder, and Dark Whisper

She's good because she can invite dragons to poach.

Meliadoul.... yet another character that my friends all hate. Some ever go as far as dismissing her! Well, I can see their points to a degree on this one. Unlike the Chocobo family, where my friends are just brain-cramped to no end, they have a point in saying that Meliadoul only does well against humans. Well, I can`t argue that too much, but what I can say is that, yet again, she`s female, meaning the Ribbon and the Chantage. If fighting an unexpected group of monsters while expecting humans, just send her forward and use her as a damage magnet.

For better results, give her the Excalibur. After that, make her a Knight, then make her a Monk with Equip Sword. Her Monk skills are very, very good. Hell, hook her up with counter and watch some carnage Last but not least, imagine Samurai Meliadoul with Equip Sword and Mighty Sword. I rest my case.

Rafa and Malak... I can resist no more!! No, they`re not Demi-Gods. In fact, they can be very weak. But I`ve been playing video games for 11 years, and never in my life have I encountered two characters with such a difference in opinion about how good/bad they are. Usually, they amount to this: either they can save your ass, or they become a serious pain in the neck. I`m not going into great detail about these two, because everyone already knows all the bad stuff, the pros and cons, the X`s and O`s, as well as how damn cute Rafa is, while Malak is just damn ugly

Rafa first... she`s your best item finder, and she`s female!! Enough said about that. I always turn her, as well as her older brother, into a gunweildng freak who knows how to kick some ass. The enemies get too close and bunch up?? annihilate them with Truth?? It missed? Well, don`t use it unless you know you have a good chance of hitting it.

Malak... some people find him to be the worst character ever in a Final Fantasy. I`m sorry, but this "honor" goes to the Mutant in Final Fantasy Legend 2 for the Game Boy. God, those things are annoying. But back to Malak. First of all, his faith is notoriously low. This is a VEEERY good thing, people. Use Solution and get that bad boy down to a Faith of 03! Give him the Stone Gun and an item-user in your party, and boom, instant powerhouse!! Oh, Un-Truth?? This ability does not get the credit it deserves. The philosphy is simple... the lower the enemies` faith is, the more damage it will do. So what do you do about the enemies that have a high faith?? Well, one of my favorite strategies is to bring Malak into the Battle along with Beowulf and 3 Oracles. Throw around a few Innocent Spells, and you`ll soon see that he packs quite a punch?? Don`t like Oracles? Then use Mediators to Solution them, it`s the same thing.

Mustadio

Mustadio is great no matter what job he is

It seems that every time I turn around, he`s mastering another job. I`ve never heard of him being underrated though

My tactics don`t suck at all, because I must have beaten this game at least 20 times. The reason I like Chantages/Ribbon is simple: DAMAGE MAGNETS!!! Let 2 or 3 characters go forward into a group of uglies while my gunmen sit back and enjoy the slaughter (the Stone Gun Rules, and I don`t care about Petrification). This works wonders in super monster battles, ESPECIALLY in that Dragon/Hydra/Behemoth/Malboro fight in VOYAGE. Rafa, Agrias, and Reis have saved my ass more than a few times in my poaching quest...

Worker 8

Worker 8?! OMG, he`s the best charcter in the game for the final fight. Send him in alone, and then see if he can lose just don`t "work" too much, or he`ll kill himself. Seriously, All-Ultima can`t hurt him, Despair 2 can`t hurt him... what could kill him in that fight? I`ve done this before, and escaped with next to no challenge. Immune to magic = one of the best characters in the game. He`s just underrated because he can be boring. Very limited skill set.

your all damn right, no character in the game is useless, all can be made kick-ass. i don't know what people have against reis. She has innate train and monster skill ability, 100% chance of inviting dragons into your party, and as a dragoner she has auto two-swords abilty (she's not that powerful of a physical attacker and can't equip weapons but still), she also has high natural MA. Mustadio is great, being able to add don't move and don't act on enemies from afar. worker 8, although he needs to expend hp, is also a good adition to your party. he has really nice defense, can't be hit with magic, and can hit with decent damage from afar. as for rafa and malak, just have rafa obtain high faith and malak obtain low faith in battle, make sure their MA are relatively high and they can dish out some serious damage. Meliodoul isn't that great against monsters but against humans she's great, nothing like breaking all their equipment and doing damage in the process, obviously she's no Orlandu but that doesn't make her a bad character. Cloud, with all his limits learned and short charge equipped he can kick some serious ass. As for beowulf, if anyone ever says to you that Beowulf is useless, you should probably punch them in the face, that's all i have to say about him.

i like using cloud in the deep dungeon, because i use someone as a human sheild while he uses finishing touch. Malak on my team is best as a lancer rafa is a good mage because of low brave an extremely high faith.

As for underrated characters, or in this case, classes; Squires and Archers don't deserve all the smack they get. I'l be the first to admit that I never use archers outside of Chapter 1, but in Chapter 1 (and early in chapter 2) they are death machines. Give them Germanis Boots and Jump +1 and they'll scale most buildings to get great shots that cover almost the entire field. With Concentrate their attacks never miss.

I love archers! I still have one and I'm near the end of Chapter 4. Especially with Concentrate, Beowulf, and Charge+20. Charge+20 isn't really good to use and wastes a bit of time to kill of the last guy. If you use Beowulf to sleep them and Charge+20 the archer will do almost 500 damage at level 40. Fun to use, that's about it. My archer also does some decent damage with the Ultimus Bow. He does around 100 damage. I even once beat Altima with a team of archers.
