Look at Greham. He betrayed his country and Lavitz's father.The dragon spirit chose him AFTER he committed those crimes. I think the correct assumption is that the Dragoon chooses a strong spirit that is driven, bit it evil OR good.
Dart's red dragoon spirit left him the second it saw zieg. Either the spirit could not see that zieg had no control over himself or it could sense the drive that melbu frahmas presence had over him, causing the spirit to leave.

Yeah, I agree with Rondo. That's what it seemed like to me. And like I said, I think the DS all had this stuff in mind. The Divine DS went with Lloyd because it knew that Dart was its true master, but he was occupied at the time. The Red-Eyed DS was trying to get back to Zieg because it knew that Dart eventually had to have the Divine DS. It didn't go to Zieg when he first met him because it knew Dart needed it to get as far as to achieve the Divine DS.

The Silver DS went with Shana because it knew it was the only way to Miranda. Then when it found Miranda, it migrated to her because it knew that the only way to forever stop the threat of the god was to give up the Moon Child to be crossed with the Moon. So whether it liked Shana or Miranda better (I would've picked Shana), it knew that Shana had to be given up so that the whole fate dealio could be fulfilled.

The Jade DS knew that in order to get to Albert, it had to somehow get to Lavitz, and there it chose Greham because it knew he'd eventually die and give the DS to Lavitz, and him to Albert.
